Ghost of Yōtei Gameplay

With a plethora of activities and areas to discover, Ghost of Yōtei is projected to be similar in length to its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, clocking in at approximately 25 hours for the main story, and a total of 46 hours or more to complete everything.
Samurai Combat

Combat aims to replicate that of a classic samurai movie, with sharp precision and smooth moves. In terms of skills, small shrines called Alters of Reflection scattered around the world of Ezo give Atsu inspiration and allow her to unlock new abilities. They can be found all over the map through exploring or through specially marked Traveler's Maps from the Cartographer.
Japanese Weaponry

As Atsu, players can wield a katana, dual swords, an odachi, a spear, or a kusarigama, each available to master fully with unique branching upgrade trees. She will also have access to ranged weapons like bows, kunai, and bomb powders. The choice and strength of her weapons is important as well, as there are some combinations that will work better, such as the advantage that dual swords have against spear-wielding enemies.
Wolf Companion

Atsu will also receive the alliance of a mysterious wolf companion. Playing the Song of the Wolf on the Shamisen summons it, assisting her in battle.
Exploring Rural Japan in the 1600s

The game will let players craft their own experience as they explore the edge of Japan at their own pace. As Atsu journeys through, she will meet NPCs of different kinds, who can further expand her map by giving clue cards for new areas when interrogated.
Players can indulge their wanderlust by raising Atsu’s spyglass, spotting something on the horizon, and riding toward it on her steadfast horse. As the journey unfolds, new locations and opportunities gradually open up, with Ezo brimming with side content waiting to be uncovered. Even branded an Onryō with a bounty on her head, Atsu can still pursue other bounties to earn coin along the way.
In a more story-focused part of the game, players can, with a button press, freely explore Atsu's past, with the environment changing immediately to mimic her flashbacks and relive the memories stored in that area.
Other Activities
When it is time to wind down after a long day, Atsu can set up camp anywhere under the stars of Ezo to rest up, play the shamisen, or meet new people. It employs a more character-driven way to meet NPCs, where travelers will sit down and talk with her as she huddles around the campfire. Meeting new formidable allies will add to her Wolf Pack, trusted individuals who lend their expertise and knowledge to helping her out with her quest for revenge.
Additionally, Atsu will have a variety of clothing items available to purchase in-game, allowing players to add their own personal touches to her overall look.
Ghost of Yōtei Story Plot
Ghost of Yōtei Story

Ghost of Yōtei follows Atsu, a female warrior adopting the persona of The Ghost. A tale of revenge and justice unfolds as Atsu combats corrupt feudal lords. Following the death of her family and the loss of her homestead, she seeks to exact revenge on the perpetrators behind it all.
Ghost of Yōtei Setting

The game transports players to 1603 feudal-era Japan, 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The story takes place in Mount Yōtei, located in Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido)—an area outside Japan's rule, filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. The world is vast, and Atsu is set to traverse every single corner of the map to exact her revenge.
Ghost of Yōtei Characters
Atsu

Atsu is the protagonist of Ghost of Yōtei, a mercenary scarred by her past and driven by vengeance. Sixteen years ago, the Yōtei Six slaughtered her family, leaving her the sole survivor. Her pursuit of revenge carries her across Ezo, where she forges unexpected bonds.
Jubei Kitamori

Jubei is Atsu’s long-lost twin brother and serves as one of the two central protagonists in Ghost of Yōtei. A samurai of Clan Matsumae, he also survived the massacre that claimed the lives of his family. He grew up to be a respected warrior and has a daughter named Kiku.
huci

huci is a shamaness and an elderly woman introduced in the Nayoro Wilds. She serves as a quest giver and Atsu's mother figure, often involving the player in side stories tied to Ainu culture.
Lord Saito

Nariaki Saito serves as Ghost of Yōtei's primary antagonist. Once the head of the Saito Clan, he fell at the Battle of Nagashino and turned to banditry to survive. From ruin, he formed the Yōtei Six—consisting of his two sons, a thug, a ronin, and a kunoichi—who slaughtered Atsu's family. In Ezo, his followers hailed him as the "Shogun of the North."
