2XKO Gameplay

Image

2XKO is a competitive 2v2 tag-team combat where players strategically manage an active "Point" character and a supporting "Assist" character to defeat their opponents. This involves utilizing character-specific attacks, special moves, and supers, along with strategic tag-ins and assist calls to extend combos or escape pressure.

It also includes an accessible control scheme, designed to lower the barrier to entry for new fighting game players, and the unique "Fuse System" which allows players to select powerful team-wide buffs that significantly alter gameplay strategies before a match. The game boasts a robust rollback netcode for smooth online experiences and a "Juggle Limit System" to prevent overly extended combos.

While 2XKO does not feature traditional single-player story mode, it focuses on the competitive aspects of fighting games: mastering individual champion kits, understanding complex team synergies and counter-play, adapting to diverse opponent playstyles, and climbing the ranks in its competitive ladders and tournaments.

Movement

Ahri dunking on Jinx

As a 2D tag-team fighter, 2XKO features many of the movement options prominent in similar games of the genre. Players can dash on the ground by pressing forward or back twice, or by pressing a combination of light and medium attacks at once. Characters are also able to run by pressing forward twice and holding the input, backdash by pressing back twice, and even "wavedash" by quickly inputting a dash and cancelling it with a crouch.

As for aerial movement, certain characters have airdashes which are performed similarly to dashes in the ground, while everyone in the roster can perform jumps and super jumps. The latter is performed by pressing down before jumping, creating a larger jump than a normal one.

Tags and Assists

Image

2XKO features 2v2 tag-fighting mechanics where players are able to switch between a "Point" character, which usually has strong normal and super moves and benefits greatly from assists, and a "Anchor" character that assists the Point and takes over after being knocked out.

Characters primarily switch around through the Handshake Tag mechanic, which is performed by pressing the tag button and simply switches characters out, but players can also switch through other mechanics like buffered tags, quick tag, and tag launchers. Every character has unique Assist attacks for different scenarios, with a universal "Push Assists" to create space and "Super Assists" that unlock more powerful Super moves available for every character.

Combos

2XKO features a simplified "magic series" combo system similar to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 where players can link together the Light, Medium, and Heavy buttons in quick succession in order to execute combos. Moves such as the Tag Launcher, which is done by pressing down and the Tag button, Special moves, and Super moves can be pressed in the middle of these sequences depending on a move's properties, and combos can be performed either on the ground and in the air.

Fuses

Fuses are unique modifiers that grants teams specific benefits and can can be applied before a match. These include "2X Assists" which grant Anchor characters multiple unique Assist moves, "Double Down," which combines the team's Super moves, and "Freestyle," which let players perform Handshake Tags twice in a single combo.

2XKO Story Plot

2XKO Story

Image

2XKO is based on League of Legends’ lore, and as of writing, does not feature any specific story of the MOBA classic. However, the game will have unique dialogue and interaction among champions during their character intros in-game, which will give players some insight into 2XKO’s overall setting.

2XKO Setting

2XKO's stages are set across multiple key locations around Runeterra. This includes Bridge of Progress in Piltover, Spirit Hills in Ionia, The Brazen Hydra which is located in Noxus, and Scuttler's Strand found in Bilgewater.

2XKO Characters

Vi

Image

Vi, the Piltover Enforcer and League of Legends' resident badass boxer, joins 2XKO as a straightforward, rushdown oriented character with a lot of strong tools to close in on opponents and pressure them with her powerful jabs. While she struggles to play at long and mid-range, Vi has very strong offensive and defensive tools, a scary strike/throw mix-up, and some of the highest damage in the game for players dedicated to learning her harder combo routes.

Jinx

Image

Jinx is an unhinged and criminal tinkerer who uses her many tools, gadgets, and tech to control space on the stage and fill the screen with traps. She is a classic zoner, with many strong. overwhelming projectiles and space control moves that she can use to trap opponents into tricky setups that deal large damage, especially when she has Super Meter charge. While her corner carry and combos are strong, she has limited mobility and a slow dash.

Ahri

Image

Ahri, the mysterious Vastayan nine-tailed fox, is a high-mobility character that excels at moving throughout the stage at lightning speeds, enforcing her strong pressure and mix-up playstyle from anywhere on the screen. She is a versatile and adaptable character for all sorts of playstyles, but requires a lot of mechanical skill and has one of the lowest health pools in the game.

Caitlyn

Image

Caitlyn, Piltover's sheriff and finest peacekeeper, is a zoner that uses her unique shooter mechanics to snipe at opponents from across the screen. Through her projectiles, Caitlyn is able to shoot through offense and set up traps across the screen that she can convert into full combos. She, however, has relatively low health and recovers slowly from missed attacks, requiring players to be precise with their inputs.

Yasuo

Image

Yasuo is an Ionian warrior and swordsman who excels at mid-range offense and dominating the neutral through high mobility, long-ranged normat attacks, and high damage through his stances and special attacks. Yasuo has special moves which allow him to nullify projectiles and close the distance, however he has weak team utility because of lackluster, niche tag assists, while playing him requires a lot of mechanical skill.
