Echograph Overview
Echograph is an indie survival horror game developed and published by solo developer Sach, also known as Pappy's Pipe Dream. The 2027 PC (Steam) title shifts between isometric gameplay and first-person ghost photography combat.
The story follows Layla, the sole survivor of a family tragedy that occurred years before the game’s events. As an adult, she revisits the haunted family manor to uncover the generational curse that has long plagued her former home. Each photograph she takes of a restless spirit helps them pass on. The experience is heightened by environmental puzzles and the challenge of managing limited resources.
Instead of simply fleeing from a ghost threat to survive, the game subverts expectations: the camera-based fighting mechanic ensures higher damage dealt to the enemy the closer you are to them. Furthermore, according to the developer, the game drew influence from Fatal Frame 3, Resident Evil 1 Remake, Signalis, and Silent Hill 2. Finally, Japanese and English localizations have been confirmed so far.
