Pragmata Wins Double Crown at the Japan Game Awards 2026

Pragmata walks away from this year’s Japan Game Awards with two awards under their belt despite being Capcom’s newest IP.

Pragmata Wins Twice in the 2026 Japan Game Awards

Snags Breakthrough and Excellence Awards

PRAGMATA Breakthrough Award

Pragmata is crowned twice in this year’s Japan Game Awards 2026 for a Breakthrough Award and an Award for Excellence, giving Capcom’s latest IP the spotlight once again. While it took six years since its initial announcement for the game to come out, the wait was worth it for its "unique gameplay system" and an equally "uniquely realized" world setting, hence why it was chosen for these awards.

Producer Naoto Oyama took the stage twice tonight, thanking fans for their support and for enjoying their game, allowing them to win not only one, but two awards. "It feels like all of our hard work has paid off, so thank you all so much for all your support and thank you for this award," he said. He shared that the team aimed for an experience that could put together all their innovative ideas and that he’s glad that they were recognized for it.

Solidifies Pragmata As One Of Capcom’s Most Popular IPs to Date

Pragmata Diana Bites On Tech

Winning two awards in a prestigious 30-year-old awards ceremony as a new IP is a large feat, one that further reinforces its position as one of Capcom’s most popular IPs. In the company’s most recent earnings report published in July 2026, Pragmata topped its Unit Sales Ranking chart with a whopping 2.5 million sales despite it being only three months since its launch in April 2026, allowing Capcom to reach its sales goals for that quarter, soaring above beloved and established series such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.

With Pragmata exceeding the company’s expectations, a sequel might just already be in the works as hinted by Capcom Corporate Officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi in an interview with Bloomberg, and is a sentiment shared by Capcom USA Chief Operating Officer Rob Dyer at the iicon 2026: "We're at a point now where we've got another IP that Capcom, and god bless them, has an arsenal, that we can continue to go down."
Diana Holding RE Items

The game has gained a wide audience across the world for its engaging mechanics, heartfelt story, and most of all, the lovable protagonist pair Hugh and Diana, whose dynamics have touched thousands of players worldwide. Here at Game8, we gave it a 92 out of 100, definitely a game that was worth the wait and one that should not be missed.

Pragmata will be making an appearance again in the upcoming Capcom Showcase Tokyo Game Show 2026 edition tomorrow on September 16th. No further details about what they will show were announced, but with its popularity, fans are crossing their fingers for any hint of an upcoming sequel.
