Zelda’s Switch 2 Includes Special Joy-Con 2 and a Triforce-Themed Dock

A Legend of Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on October 29, 2026, to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary. The Switch 2's first-ever special edition console features a Triforce motif, with green, gold, and black details on the console, dock, and Joy-Cons. Pre-orders opened on September 8, 2026, following its announcement during the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct.
Alongside the console, Nintendo is also set to release a Triforce-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller, a carrying case, and a real playable Ocarina of Time in collaboration with Hori. Refer to the table below for more information:

One thing buyers will not find in the box is Ocarina of Time remake. In the product promo images, Nintendo explicitly stated that the game is sold separately. Ocarina of Time will also receive a physical Switch 2 release, with the initial print run featuring textured foil packaging, but the company has not yet clarified whether it will use a regular cartridge or Game-Key Card.
At the time of writing, the Switch 2 is sold out on Nintendo’s official website, with resellers on the aftermarket selling the system for up to double its retail price. On Reddit, fans shared their dismay at how quickly these items sold out, with many interested buyers frustrated by how fast it happened.
Young Link and Young Zelda Get New Ocarina of Time amiibo
The hardware will be joined by two new amiibo based specifically on the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake: Young Link and Young Zelda. Both figures are scheduled to launch sometime on December 31, 2027, with Nintendo’s website listing each for $24.99. Similar to the themed Switch 2, both amiibo are currently listed as unavailable in Nintendo’s shop.
Young Link’s figure depicts the young hero sitting alongside Navi, while Young Zelda holds the titular Ocarina of Time. Amiibo can be used to collect in-game rewards by tapping the figurine to a touchpoint on the Switch 2.
According to the official Nintendo Store, Link's amiibo unlocks a mask that "evokes the graphical style of the original game", while Zelda's amiibo gives a similar reward. Both masks depict character models from the original N64 release.
These are not the first Ocarina of Time amiibo released by Nintendo. An adult Link amiibo based on the hit 1998 game appeared as part of Zelda’s 30th Anniversary amiibo collection in 2016, while Young Link also received a separate Super Smash Bros. figure in 2019.
40th Anniversary Continues a Long Line of Zelda-Themed Hardware
Nintendo has regularly released special hardware alongside major Zelda games over the years. In 2013, The Wind Waker HD received a special black Wii U bundle featuring a GamePad decorated with gold Zelda symbols and a Hyrule crest. Notably, the Wind Waker bundle included a digital copy of the game.
The company followed up with other Zelda hardware, including the black-and-gold A Link Between Worlds Nintendo 3DS XL in 2013 and the Skyward Sword HD Edition Joy-Con released in 2021. More recently, Nintendo launched the Switch OLED – The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition in April 2023 and the Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition in September 2024.
The latest 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 console honors a long-standing Nintendo tradition by bringing Zelda’s iconic Triforce to Nintendo’s newest hardware. It arrives just in time for the remake of the legendary classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is set to release on November 5, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
