Nintendo and Intelligent Systems bring a new mobile game to iOS and Android this month. Here's everything you need to know about Pictonico! and what to expect when it launches.
Pictonico! Pre-registration and Release Date Announced
Releases May 28 on iOS and Android
Nintendo and Intelligent Systems, the studio behind the WarioWare series, have announced "Pictonico!," a new mobile mini-game app that transforms personal photos into playable games. The photo-focused game is set to launch on May 28, 2026, for iOS and Android, with pre-registration open now on both the App Store and Google Play.
The app uses pictures from your phone and adds them into a rotating set of mini-games, turning familiar faces and everyday snapshots into the stars of each challenge. Whether it's spinning people around, helping a person chew, or watching your friends turn into mummies, the game commits to the comedic potential of seeing real photos used in silly, playful scenarios.
Pictonico! is free to download and includes a small set of mini-games at no cost. Two paid add-on packs are available to unlock the full library of up to 80 mini-games: Game Pack Vol. 1 is priced at $7.99, and Game Pack Vol. 2 at $5.99.
Multiple Ways to Play the Game

The app offers some flexibility in how players engage with their photos. The game can automatically select images from your library that work well for its mini-game formats. Players can also try to narrow things down to photos from a specific time period or simply pick from their camera roll. There's also another option: take a photo right then and there with friends or family and jump straight into a game, making it a natural fit for gatherings or something spontaneous.
The game offers Stages that ramp up in difficulty the further you go, alongside a Score Attack mode for players who want a stricter challenge where a single mistake ends the run. A Photo Lottery fortune feature also exists, allowing users to get their fortune told for the day.
What is Intelligent Systems?

Intelligent Systems is a long-standing Nintendo partner studio well-known for co-developing the WarioWare series, as well as being the developer behind Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, and Paper Mario. Their involvement in Pictonico! is apparent, given how closely the game's spirit mirrors WarioWare's rapid-fire, anything-goes mini-game energy, but also makes it grounded in something a lot more personal: your own camera roll.
Pictonico! also marks a notable moment for Nintendo on mobile. It is the first original mobile game from Nintendo not tied to an existing franchise in a long while. The last time they had a new IP was with Cygames, a game called Dragalia Lost, which launched in 2018 and ended its service in 2022. For those who have been waiting for Nintendo to try something genuinely new from them on smartphones, this is the first attempt in years since then.
Pictonico! launches May 28, 2026, on iOS and Android. Pre-registration is now open on the App Store and Google Play.
