June is off to an excellent start, coming in hot with some of gaming’s biggest headlines fresh from the Summer Game Fest and its partnered events. Firstly, the beloved Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy has finally announced its concluding chapter, FF7 REVELATION, coming next year. 2027 will also welcome Resident Evil: Veronica, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, Until Dawn 2, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion for the title.
That’s not to say that this year will pale in comparison. Gamers will be thrilled this coming September, a month full of epic titles like Marvel’s Wolverine, CONTROL Resonant, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Silent Hill: Townfall, and more. And of course, in November will be the launch of one of the most anticipated games to date: Grand Theft Auto 6.

Final Fantasy 7 REVELATION Set To Conclude The FF7 Remake Trilogy in Spring 2027
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, launches in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games.
This epic conclusion culminates in Cloud and his allies’ adventure to save the planet and stop Sephiroth from achieving his goals. Revelation also introduces two new characters that will join the party: Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. With the game’s improved combat system and new combo attacks, fans of the series will take on the final battle fully equipped with the evolution of Final Fantasy 7.
Resident Evil: Veronica Spotlights Claire Redfield in Announcement Trailer
Summer Game Fest 2026 begins with one explosive announcement. Following the tracks of this year’s Resident Evil: Requiem, Resident Evil: Veronica is slated for release sometime in 2027.
A remake of the 2000s classic Code: Veronica, it will star Claire Redfield as the main protagonist, with the announcement trailer focusing on the beloved character. The original game’s other playable characters, Chris Redfield and Steve Burnside, have yet to be formally revealed.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain Says Hello to Evie, not Eve
Stellar Blade continues its legacy with Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, a sequel slated for release sometime in 2027. The sequel appears to say goodbye to Eve for now and unveils a new protagonist, Evie.
The trailer showcases some cinematic cutscenes featuring Evie on a mission; she and her unknown companion’s "first mission in a while," suggesting her expertise and more chances to see her in combat. Later on, she is seen grappling with one of the hostile enemies, a cybernetic human turned aberration. It is clear that Stellar Blade’s signature smooth action combat makes a comeback in the sequel.
God of War: Laufey Brings Faye To The Forefront
God of War: Laufey concluded the recent PlayStation State of Play for June 2026 with a 20-minute announcement trailer and gameplay trailer all in one. A spin-off to the acclaimed God of War series, the game features a new protagonist, Laufey (also known as Faye), the wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus (Loki).
After her cremation ceremony, a scene from the 2018 God of War, the trailer follows her as she appears to get thrust into an adventure in the afterlife, The Everywhen. In a magical realm where ruthless gods and creatures from different mythologies either co-exist or clash, Faye must persevere through a perilous journey if she wishes to go home.
The game is currently in development, with no release window announced as of writing. However, it is confirmed to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive on launch.
Until Dawn 2 Comes 12 Years After The Original
Another huge reveal during the State of Play was the announcement of Until Dawn 2, over a decade since the first title was released. Still under development, it is slated for release sometime in 2027, with more details to come in the following months.
Instead of trekking up a snowy mountain, Until Dawn 2 places an all-new cast on the shores of an abandoned tropical island. A paranormal channel named Dead True has landed the gig of a lifetime with a major TV channel and is tasked with filming their first episode for the big screen. What appeared to be a sweet vacation quickly turns awry as the crew members come face-to-face with the ancient horrors that linger on the island, throwing them into an adventure they will surely never forget.
Marvel’s Wolverine Confirms Appearances of Jean Grey, Mystique, and More
Highly anticipated action-adventure Marvel’s Wolverine adds hype to its nearing release date with the confirmed appearances of Jean Gray, Mystique, Sabretooth, Omega Red, Ogun, and Bolivar Trask.
In the trailer, they are seen as partners or allies to Wolverine as they take down hostile enemies in adrenaline-pumping, brutal combat. Following the PlayStation State of Play June 2026 presentation, Insomniac Games has opened pre-orders for Marvel’s Wolverine. Those who pre-order the Standard Edition ($69.99) or the Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99) will receive early access to Wolverine’s Classic Brown suit and Reflective Claws, as well as 1 additional Technique Point and 4 PS Avatars.
Ragnarok Online 3 Early Test Sign-Ups Open For Select Regions
A classic 2000s MMORPG makes a comeback as Ragnarok Online 3, and while there is no confirmed release date yet, it will first enter an Early Test stage exclusive to players in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Sign-ups are now available on the game’s official Discord server, and slots are limited. However, additional regions will roll out as development continues, which Producer Yu in a Dev Diary video assures is going smoothly.
Alongside RO3’s eventual release, a single-player RPG named Ragnarok Console Project is slated for release in the first half of 2027. It will be launched for PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. Instead of the familiar lands of Midgard, players will be sent to an alternate version of the land where reality is sinking into itself.
