June continues to deliver major announcements, with several long-awaited games finally making their return. Kingdom Hearts 4 broke its years-long silence with a new trailer, while Persona 6 officially debuted nearly a decade after Persona 5. Nintendo also surprised fans with the reveal of a modern remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of the company's most beloved classics.
The week wasn't all about returning favorites, however. Xenoblade Genesis introduced a new world powered by Anima and a new protagonist, while Pokémon Pokopia heads underwater this August with a new Dive skill that lets players build new structures and expand their town beneath the sea. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Is Finally Real
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was announced during the June 9 Nintendo Direct, bringing the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The reveal came with a cinematic trailer featuring a fully 3D Young Link alongside references to the Triforce, the Deku Tree, and the Kokiri.
Nearly three decades after its original release, Ocarina of Time is finally receiving a modern remake. While Nintendo has yet to show gameplay, the remake was one of the biggest surprises of the showcase. More details will be announced at a later date.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Makes Shocking Comeback with New Trailer
Kingdom Hearts 4 broke its long silence with a new gameplay and cinematic trailer during the recent Nintendo Direct. The minute-long trailer showcased several old and new characters, including Donald, Goofy, Luxord, and Strelitzia, alongside gameplay footage of Sora battling Darkside and other enemies in an urban area.
The Direct also brought news for fans looking to revisit the series, with all three Kingdom Hearts collections receiving native Nintendo Switch 2 releases on October 8. Previously available only through cloud versions, the collections can now be purchased individually or as part of a larger bundle.
Persona 6 Announced Back-to-Back With Persona 4 Remake Release Date
Persona 6 finally made its first official appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, nearly a decade after the release of Persona 5. The teaser confirmed that the long-awaited RPG is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though Atlus stopped short of announcing a release window.
According to its official description, players will once again "lead a double-life in modern-day Japan" while investigating "strange rumors, unsettling urban legends, and occult incidents."
Pokémon Pokopia Goes Underwater With New Diving Skill and Town
Pokémon Pokopia will receive a free update and paid Expansion Pass this August. The free update adds the Dive skill, allowing players to build new structures, expand their town underwater, and live alongside Pokémon such as Magikarp, Psyduck, Piplup, Vaporeon and more.
Meanwhile, the Expansion Pass introduces a new town called Bubbly Basin, along with additional Pokémon, outfits, and ocean-themed furniture. Players who purchase the pass will also gain access to future DLC planned for late 2026 and 2027.
Xenoblade Genesis is Xenoblade’s New Beginning
Xenoblade Genesis was announced during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct and is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The reveal trailer introduced a world powered by a magical source called Anima and featured an unnamed pink-haired protagonist studying at Leukos, an academy for warriors capable of wielding its power.
Fans can also revisit the series later this year through Nintendo Switch 2 editions of the three mainline Xenoblade Chronicles games. The updated releases include visual enhancements and additional content. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is already available digitally, while Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launch on July 30 and December 3, respectively.
