"Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" DLCs Included for Free
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 closed with the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, which will launch on September 29, 2026. The updated version of the 2015 RPG will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners on supported platforms, with a native Nintendo Switch 2 release and a Battle.net launch arriving on the same day. CD Projekt RED (CDPR) followed the announcement with the first look at Songs of the Past, its upcoming third expansion for The Witcher 3, which is scheduled to release in 2027.
CDPR is co-developing the Remastered release with Yigsoft, which previously worked with the studio on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Together, the studios have revisited the game's gameplay and presentation, with the confirmed improvements including:

The remaster covers the base game and its two existing expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. According to the game’s official press release, existing owners will receive both at no additional cost.
It arrives nearly four years after The Witcher 3 received its next-generation update in December 2022, which already introduced a variety of improvements. CDPR is now revisiting the RPG once again as Geralt prepares to return in Songs of the Past next year.
Songs of the Past First Look Reveals New Region, Weapon, and Enemies
Songs of the Past received its first look during Gamescom Opening Night Live through a brief trailer that introduced Letten, a new region and the homeland of Dandelion. Geralt travels there with his old friend for a personal matter, with the trailer showing the region's festivals and rural traditions before the story turns toward the darkness beneath Letten's peaceful surface.
CDPR has confirmed that the expansion will feature previously unseen monsters, though the studio has not identified the creature or explained its role in the story. The trailer leaves the long-dormant evil beneath Letten similarly unexplained.
The footage further shows Geralt using a chain as a weapon in combat. The studio said the chain gives Geralt another way to control groups of enemies and serves as a callback to the opening cinematic of the original The Witcher, where Geralt used a similar weapon. Songs of the Past will introduce new mutagens as well.
CDPR is developing Songs of the Past with Fool's Theory, whose leadership includes veterans of The Witcher 3. The company previously described the project as a full-fledged expansion comparable in scope to Blood and Wine. It is scheduled to launch as a paid expansion in 2027 for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S.
