Tales of Eternia Remastered Rated for the Nintendo Switch on PEGI Website

Tales of Eternia, the underrated JRPG from Bandai Namco, recently drew headlines after fans noticed a Remastered listing online. Fans quickly began speculating and building hype for its eventual reveal.

Tales of Eternia Remastered Listing Sparks Buzz Across the Community

Significance of the Tales of Eternia’s PEGI Listing

tales of eternia remastered PEGI listing

Tales of Eternia is reportedly getting a remaster. Fans discovered an online listing for the classic JRPG on the official PEGI (Pan European Game Information) website. What’s even more interesting is that its platform was tagged for the Nintendo Switch, with a placeholder release date of April 16, 2026, which has already passed. As of writing, the PEGI listing was taken down.

The listing did not provide any other substantial details apart from a brief description of the game, which fans of the original already know. It describes a "role-playing game which follows the story of Reid and his friends, Farah and Keele, as they meet a mysterious girl named Meredy who speaks an unknown language. Their subsequent quest to discover her origins leads them across a dimensional boundary to an entirely different realm known as Celestia."

While the listing is now deleted, fans quickly screencapped the page. The only thing we know so far is the prominent "Remastered" label attached to the Tales of Eternia title, along with a PEGI 12 rating for Violence and Bad Language.

This is not the first time a game has been unceremoniously revealed before its official announcement. Life is Strange: Reunion’s PEGI game rating was spotted by fans months before its reveal, generating significant hype within the community. Even Tales of Xillia Remastered was prematurely listed on the website prior to Bandai Namco’s official announcement.

While PEGI listings are often reliable, as evidenced by prior reveals, they are not always a guarantee that a release is imminent. It is also worth noting that this could simply be a listing error, so it is best to take everything with a grain of salt.

Fan Reactions to the Listing

The discovery of Tales of Eternia Remastered has naturally drawn attention from its fanbase, particularly on forums like the r/Tales subreddit and X (Twitter). Fans have expressed excitement at the possibility of a 2D Tales game receiving the remastered treatment, especially since Bandai Namco has more recently focused on reimagining 3D entries like Tales of Berseria. The fact that Eternia is a 2D title made it a welcome surprise among fans.

Localization has also become a major topic of discussion within the Tales community, with players wondering whether Bandai Namco would keep its "questionable" dubbed dialogue or introduce an improved version based on fan feedback. Others have also pointed out that since Tales of Graces f received newly dubbed skits, they are hopeful that the alleged Eternia remaster could receive a similar treatment.

Fans are also discussing that if the Tales of Eternia remaster is real, it could open the door for other classic titles like Tales of Destiny I & 2 to receive the remastered treatment as well.

25 Years of Tales of Eternia

Released in North America as Tales of Destiny II (not to be confused with Tales of Destiny 2, the direct sequel to 2002’s Tales of Destiny) back on September 18, 2001, Tales of Eternia is generally regarded as one of the stronger entries in the Tales series, resonating especially with classic JRPG fans who grew up with PlayStation titles like Chrono Trigger and Suikoden. Part of Eternia’s appeal was its real-time combat and a fantasy-charged epic of Reid and Meredy’s dimensional-spanning journey.

Come September 2026, the game will reach its 25th anniversary. While Bandai Namco has not explicitly announced any celebratory plans for Eternia yet, the possibility of the remaster’s official reveal could come at any moment.
