Street Fighter 6 Introduces Ingrid and Two New Modes on May 28
Dark Ingrid Finally In Action

Street Fighter 6 will add Ingrid to the roster on May 28 to close out the Year 3 DLC character list, per the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on May 19. Two new modes will also be released on the same date, Random Avatar Matches and Avatar Arcade.
Ingrid will join Sagat, C. Viper, and Alex as playable characters exclusive to the game’s paid Year 3 DLC. The trailer for the upcoming release shows Ingrid performing what fans suspect is her Sun Octopus move in a dark-colored outfit.
The dark purple-and-red ensemble resembles her light purple-and-white second player outfit, which was initially shown alongside her gameplay trailer and moveset list on Steam on April 23.

Longtime fans of the Street Fighter series are pleasantly surprised by Ingrid’s new super move and clothing, according to reactions on social media. Sun Octopus and Dark Ingrid were concepts originally designed for the cancelled 2003 game, Capcom Fighting All-Stars, and have never been featured in previous games.
Ingrid is the last addition to the DLC, which is currently available to purchase on all digital storefronts. There is currently no official release date available for the Year 4 DLC, although fans speculate it will be announced during one of the upcoming summer gaming showcases, starting with Summer Game Fest on June 5.

Players across social media are deep in discussion about which beloved Street Fighter characters they would like to see in Year 4. Popular picks include Sakura, Makoto, Dudley, and Sagat. Sakura and Makoto topped Street Fighter’s 30th anniversary poll in 2018, which surveyed over 150K players worldwide.
Random Avatar Matches and Avatar Arcade

Random Avatar Matches is an online, ranked battle mode that pairs players up randomly and gives them identical levels and base stats through Level Sync. Gauge limits are maxed out and all accessory slots are unlocked in this mode. All master styles, special moves, and Super Arts are also available to equip.
Ranking is determined by Avatar Points, which can be earned through winning Random Avatar Matches and can be used to buy cosmetics. Tracking is done daily, weekly, monthly, and cumulatively.

Fulfilling challenges will also earn players exclusive rewards, including special colors for characters’ second player outfits. Currently, second player outfit colors are available in the game’s shop or by meeting conditions in World Tour Mode.
Players can control what information about their character opponents see with Matchmaking, Control, and Title/Challenge customizations. The mode also comes with a fully customizable Training Mode.

Avatar Arcade pits players against the CPU, allowing them to level up and acquire items. Players can face high-level enemies in Spar with a Master, or complete consecutive fights against masters and NPCs from World Tour Mode in Battle Tour.
Defeating masters repeatedly in Avatar Arcade will eventually unlock their respective second player outfits. Currently, second player outfits can be acquired through the game’s shop or by bonding with masters in World Tour Mode.
Players can unlock endings from previous Street Fighter titles by winning matches in Avatar Arcade. Unexpected New Challengers, difficult enemies offering premium rewards, may also appear while playing through this mode.
Fans are excited about the coming updates, per online discussions. The new modes seemingly address player demand for more character costumes, which Street Fighter 6 responded to in 2025. Players who are uninterested in ranked battles are also excited to see more options for single-player gaming.
