⚫︎ Tangle and Whisper, two characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comics, are releasing for free on Sonic Racing: Crossworld. They will arrive to the game on February 25th, with an in-game "Tangle & Whisper Festival" running from February 26 at 4:00 p.m. PT / 7:00 p.m. ET until March 1 at 3:59 pm. PT / 6:59 p.m. ET.

⚫︎ A free update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched on February 11, adding AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball series as a playable character. The Super Monkey Ball Content Drop
also introduces the Banana Cruiser vehicle, themed music tracks, and a limited-time festival event with exclusive rewards.

⚫︎ Sega released the Pac-Man Pack for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on January 8, 2026, which adds two racers, a custom vehicle, and a themed course. All players can also participate in the Pac-Man Festival event to earn exclusive rewards through January 11.

⚫︎ In an interview with Famitsu, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds director Ken Kobayakawa teased that the development team is preparing "many more amazing surprises" for the game throughout 2026.

⚫︎ SEGA has released a free content update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that adds NiGHTS as a playable racer along with their signature "Dream Sleeper" vehicle. Launched on December 24, 2025, the update also includes five music tracks from the NiGHTS series and a special "NiGHTS Festival" event with exclusive rewards.

⚫︎ More characters are confirmed to be coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in future free updates. NiGHTS from Nights Into Dreams, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, Tangle, and Whisper from the IDW comics are confirmed to be joining the game's roster. -->

⚫︎ During the November 2025 PlayStation State of Play, SEGA announced that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is expanding its roster with SpongeBob SquarePants joining the racing circuit on November 19. SEGA also confirmed a line-up of free post-launch racers, starting with NIGHTS in December 2025, followed by AiAi in January 2026, and Tangle & Whisper in February 2026.

⚫︎ Sonic Racing: Crossworlds adds Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga in a free crossover update. Ichiban comes with a new a Dragon Brave
vehicle, two Like a Dragon songs in the Jukebox, and new custom emotes.

⚫︎ Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' Nintendo Switch 2 version releases on December 4, with a physical cartridge coming sometime in 2026.

⚫︎ Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Update adds Joker from Persona 5 on October 22. The Phantom Thief of Hearts joins the race alongside an Arsene-themed kart and an in-game "Joker Festival" event from October 23 at 8:00 p.m. EDT to October 26 at 7:59 p.m

⚫︎ SEGA decided that featuring the Yakuza franchise in Sonic CrossWorlds was okay because it would provide a fun experience for players, despite the series' mature and violent themes.

⚫︎ Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds takes a lot of inspiration from classic Sega racing titles, according to the developers. The game's drifting and driving mechanics are taken from Sega Rally and OutRun, among other Sega racers.

⚫︎ Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be releasing its Minecraft DLC on October 8, 2025. This upcoming DLC will bring iconic Minecraft characters, such as a Creeper, Steve, and Alex as racers, as well as a new race track for the game.

⚫︎ Mega Man has officially been confirmed as a Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC character alongside Proto Man. Their inclusion in the game will also bring a Dr. Wily's Castle track and a Rush-themed car.
