SEGA is set to return to Summer Game Fest (SGF) this year, as teased by event creator and host Geoff Keighley. Marking the Japanese gaming giant's anniversary today, Keighley celebrated the occasion with a post on X (Twitter), confirming that fans can expect to see SEGA during SGF's opening showcase this Friday.
Although the company is a mainstay at the annual event, the community might be in for something special this year. A massive amount of online buzz has been circulating lately about SEGA's potential reveals, which may include reboots of classic titles and brand-new entries in existing franchises.
Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio Reboots
Among the studio’s lineup, fans expect new updates regarding the upcoming Virtua Fighter reboot. Since it was first revealed at The Game Awards 2024, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio haven’t shared much information about the title.
Despite releasing short character teasers and gameplay snippets last year, SEGA has been relatively quiet over the past few months. This silence could be due to the team actively supporting Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage across modern platforms.
However, with the publisher locked in for SGF this weekend, an official update could finally be on the horizon.

As for Jet Set Radio and the other games, there have been multiple speculations and rumors online regarding their progress, but SEGA hasn’t confirmed anything as of this moment. The upcoming SGF weekend may be the perfect time for the studio to reveal what’s in store for these legacy titles.
Sonic and Persona Franchise Announcements Expected
Coinciding with the video game festivities, one of SEGA’s biggest franchises ever, Sonic the Hedgehog, will be commemorating its 35th anniversary later this month. Because it is a major milestone year, anticipation is incredibly high for the developers to celebrate with a major new game announcement, cinematic teasers, or multimedia projects.
At last year’s SGF, the studio focused heavily on showcasing its latest multiplayer arcade racer, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The publisher previewed multiple guest characters and themed tracks from other classic SEGA franchises, driving massive engagement and excitement among long-time fans.
Additionally, SEGA’s long-time partner, ATLUS, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Persona this year. Following a jam-packed trailer during a dedicated Xbox Presents last month, fans are eager to learn more about the star-studded Like a Dragon prequel, especially after the shocking reveal of iconic celebrity appearances like Snoop Dogg, Ado, and the likeness of legendary actor Bunta Sugawara.
While the teaser previewed brief snippets of gameplay, the developers have yet to explain the game’s combat mechanics in depth. With Stranger Than Heaven set to launch in Winter 2026, fans are expecting to hear more about the title very soon, and SGF could be the perfect stage for a full breakdown.
