RuneScape: Dragonwilds is leaving Early Access behind and brings a game to consoles for the first time in 25 years, with an Xbox Game Pass day-one launch and a giveaway to celebrate.

Console Milestone for a 25-Year-Old Franchise
RuneScape: Dragonwilds will officially launch worldwide on September 15, making its full exit from Early Access with a 1.0 release. The survival RPG is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one at no extra cost to subscribers. This launch would be the first time the RuneScape franchise has appeared on console platforms in the series’ 25 years.
In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, players get dropped into Ashenfall, a hidden continent in the RuneScape world of Gielinor, as ordinary adventurers working their way up through the franchise's classic skill system, leveling from 1 to 99 across crafts, both martial and magical. Throughout the game, players may encounter series staples like Black Knights, Zogres, Chromatic Dragons, and Kalphites while exploring across the continent.
Magic plays a big role in day-to-day survival, with Skill Spells letting players summon an axe to instantly chop trees, conjure a tornado of fish (Fishnado), blast open ore veins, and more. The game also includes a base-building system with hundreds of unique pieces for fortifying against the game's ever-present dragon threat. For the adventure, it supports co-op for up to three additional players, and Jagex has already confirmed an ongoing roadmap of new skills, regions, and content to look forward to beyond the 1.0 launch.
Community Hype and Celebrations
Additionally, to mark the upcoming 1.0 release, RuneScape: Dragonwilds also has a giveaway for a Starforge gaming PC, a PlayStation 5, an Xbox Series X, and a Nintendo Switch 2. Entering just requires wishlisting the game on any eligible storefront and sending a screenshot as proof through the game's official Discord. Players who already own the game on Steam simply need to present a screenshot showing it in their library to count as a valid entry.
Reaction to the announcement has been overwhelmingly positive across YouTube and X (Twitter). Early Access players expressed excitement about console friends finally being able to join them in Ashenfall, while others said the Game Pass availability was enough to convince them to jump in day one after previously only planning to wishlist the game. A few comments compared Dragonwilds favorably to other survival titles like Fable, Valheim and Enshrouded, and some fans mentioned about wanting to see RuneScape's other titles, like Old School RuneScape, eventually bundled into Game Pass Ultimate as well.
