REPO Gameplay

REPO's gameplay follows a cyclical structure, requiring players to meet a cash quota by looting haunted locations for valuables across a series of subsequent stages. Each stage begins with players arriving at a new location in their armored truck, which doubles as their escape vehicle once the quota is met.
Once inside, players must search for valuable objects and transport them to the extraction point, all while avoiding the lurking dangers. The quota increases significantly with each stage, pushing players to take greater risks for higher rewards.
Tools and Physics-Based Object Manipulation

To aid in their mission, they can use various tools, including a physics-based grab mechanic to lift and carry items, and a cart to transport multiple objects while tracking their total value.
The game’s physics-based object manipulation plays a crucial role, as rough handling can decrease an item’s worth or render it completely useless. Bumping valuables against walls, monsters, or even other players can lead to costly mistakes. The same physics-driven mechanics apply to player movement, meaning environmental hazards, hostile entities, and even teammates can send players tumbling.
Upgrades

Players can also use their profits from previous runs to purchase upgrades for items or weapons to increase their chances of survival in the future.
Monsters and Detection Behavior

Various entities and monsters roam each location, each with distinct abilities and behaviors. Some rely on sound to detect players, while others require a direct line of sight. Some can be fought off, while others are invulnerable, forcing players to either strategize their escape or risk an encounter. Balancing stealth, teamwork, and resource management is key to surviving and making it out with enough profit to move on to the next job.
REPO Story

While REPO does not feature a campaign to explicitly guide players through its world, it leaves crumbs of information through environmental storytelling. The game focuses on its core gameplay loop, leaving much of its narrative context open-ended for players to interpret as they navigate its haunted locations.
REPO Plot

REPO follows the perspective of Semibots, little robots that house the minds of former humans. Under orders from a cold A.I. known as The Taxman, they must go to specified locations, stealing various valuables while evading mutated monsters that stalk their halls.
REPO Setting

REPO is set in the distant future, at least during or after the year 2090. A virus abruptly drove humanity to extinction, and survivors either live on as Semibots under The Taxman or as the monsters that hunt them.
The locations that the players explore are usually former residences or public facilities, such as a museum, an academy, or a laboratory.
