Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 2 Arrives With Dokkaebi Remaster and More
Coming This June 2
Ubisoft has officially revealed Operation System Override, the next major season for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and one of its biggest changes is a rework for Dokkaebi. The update is part of Year 11 Season 2 and launches on June 2 alongside a new map, Ranked 3.0, and several gameplay updates.
Ever since Dokkaebi was introduced in Operation White Noise back in 2017, she has remained one of Rainbow Six Siege’s most disruptive attackers because of how much pressure her Logic Bomb placed on defenders. The gadget could instantly force every defender on the map to silence their phones, often exposing positions or completely stopping roamers from moving safely around the map. Over the years, Ubisoft repeatedly adjusted her loadout and secondary gadgets to keep her under control, but Dokkaebi continued to be a strong pick in both ranked and professional play because of how valuable global intel and defender disruption remained in Siege’s slower gameplay style.
In response to this, Ubisoft replaced Dokkaebi’s old Logic Bomb gadget with a new ability called Jegeo Payload, which "transform her mass spam calls into an explosive malware hack" that is ultimately "easier than dodging her old spam calls." Players now need to identify or scan a defender first before triggering the ability on them.

The new version of the gadget also raises the pressure on defenders. If a targeted defender ignores the incoming call for too long, their phone will overheat, explode, and temporarily cut them off from observation tools like cameras and certain gadgets.
Ubisoft appears to be pushing Dokkaebi toward a more aggressive intel-denial role instead of the broad team-wide disruption she was known for. The company adjusted Dokkaebi’s phone hacking mechanic. Previously, she needed to physically interact with dead defenders’ phones to gain access to cameras. In the new update, she can now hack phones remotely from a distance, although the camera access is no longer permanent.
The operator is also receiving a new weapon as part of the remaster. Dokkaebi can now equip the XK23 assault rifle, a weapon that Ubisoft describes as being strong at mid-range combat. The rifle will also be available for Sens and Rauora. Her existing weapons, including Mk 14 EBR and SMG-12, are still part of her loadout.

Community reaction to the rework has been mixed so far. Some players believe the changes finally add more counterplay to one of Siege’s strongest attackers, especially since defenders are no longer forced to deal with map-wide phone calls every round.
Others, however, feel the exploding phone mechanic may make Dokkaebi even more dangerous in coordinated teams, particularly in competitive matches where attackers can quickly isolate roamers or force defenders out of strong positions.
Ranked 3.0 and Map Changes for Year 11 Season 2

Operation System Override is also bringing several major updates outside of Dokkaebi. Ubisoft is introducing Ranked 3.0, which the company described as "a major overhaul to the competitive heart of Siege that was designed with community feedback in mind."
Placement matches are returning, rank progression is becoming fully visible, and the hidden MMR system is being removed. "It’s more fair, with a fine-tuned matchmaking system that starts each season with five placement matches to determine your starting rank," Ubisoft explained. Once that five-game stretch concludes, the system enforces these limitations to minimize skill gaps.
Console players will see official mouse and keyboard support added later in the season, although Ubisoft said matchmaking rules will separate those in order to protect competitive integrity. The feature will work alongside Mousetrap, the game’s anti-cheat system.

Moreover, the season adds Calypso Casino, a new competitive map inspired by older Rainbow Six locations. Ubisoft said the map was "built from the ground up for competitive Siege at the highest level." Alongside the new map, Emerald Plains, Kanal, and Outback are also being modernized with "improved lighting, shadows, 4K textures, and destructible ingredients."
Other balancing changes are planned for multiple operators as well. Ubisoft confirmed tweaks focused on flank watching and intel gathering, with operators like Zofia also receiving updates during the season.

Rainbow Six Siege is now in its eleventh year with no signs of slowing down—especially considering its player count on Steam still consistently reaches five digits, and that’s not including the likely non-negligible number of players on consoles. Whether the upcoming changes ultimately improve the game or create new balancing problems will only become clear once the season goes live.
