Ragnarok Online 3 Technical Test in TW, HK, and Macau First
Future Regions to Follow
Ragnarok Online 3 (RO3) developers announced on the game’s first Dev Diary video on YouTube and in a press release that it will head to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau "in the near future" for a technical test. Sign-ups are currently open via the official Discord server for a limited number of participants. Additional regions will roll out progressively as the schedule is confirmed.
Released on May 27, the video featured Producer Yu detailing the MMORPG’s development progress and core design philosophy. According to him, they have "been in continuous deep adjustments" as they prepare for the next testing phase. They drew on player feedback from the Pioneer Test on PC, which ended "six months ago," as well as from offline playtests held across multiple regions.
"We hope RO3 will not just be a game that evokes memories, but rather the starting point for players' new memories," Yu said. "We look forward to meeting all adventurers again on the Midgard continent, and together, writing the florious chapter of the next twenty years."
RO3 Devs Aim to Continue Carrying the Torch

The developer update delved into three major sections to respond to player expectations following the playtests: PC optimization, redesigning dungeons to center on team strategy, and themed seasonal events.
The first part focused on optimizing the experience for PC users, addressing concerns that RO3 "felt too much like a mobile game" and avoiding the impression of being merely a port. Interface flexibility and refined combat controls were thus introduced to "[preserve] RO's classic gameplay rhythm."

Secondly, the reoriented dungeon design introduced new mechanics and emphasized team interaction. Based on feedback that "MMORPG dungeons have been drifting toward pure stat comparison," gradually sidelining skill and teamwork, the developers worked on reviving the cooperative, strategic combat that defined the original RO.
Elite bosses, called MVPs, have now been brought into five-player dungeons, "where they can truly shine as real bosses." Yu noted that players must now observe the behavior patterns unique to each boss and coordinate with their party to defeat the powerful opponent. For instance, players must adapt to the MVP Mistress's use of Hornet formations, which account for the fight’s dodge-centric gameplay.

The third part of the video explained how RO3 keeps its content fresh by using a Season System. Each Season features an exclusive theme, boss, and dungeon, offering new or returning players a fast track back into the story and reducing progression anxiety. "Even if you AFK for three or six months, you'll still be able to catch up when you return," Yu said.
In the 10-player dungeon, the music-themed Season 1 features bosses that compose a full band: the Lead Vocal, Dancer, Drummer, and Conductor. Each of them incorporates dungeon mechanics distinct to their performance style.
Similarly, 3rd Jobs for the characters also reflect the theme. For example, the Assassin’s skill build effects draw on hip‑hop influences with graffiti for animations and VFX. Yu remarked that "in the upcoming test, you'll get to experience the unique playstyles and builds of various 3rd Jobs."
