Ragnarok Console Project Arrives in 2027
New Ragnarok RPG Reimagined With Choice-Driven Storytelling
Ragnarok Console Project is Gravity, Daewon Game Media Lab, and developer Waycoder’s new take on the MMORPG Ragnarok franchise. Scheduled to launch in the first half of 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, the game takes players to an alternate version of the Ragnarok universe where reality itself is beginning to collapse.
Unlike the online multiplayer adventures the series is known for, Ragnarok Console Project is a single-player RPG focused on narrative and player choice. Players must journey through a world threatened by dimensional rifts and the mysterious power of the Heart of Ymir, exploring locations such as deserts, ancient ruins, research facilities, and distorted realms.
The project draws from a world that longtime fans of the franchise will recognize. The game’s description confirms that players can also build a party from a cast of characters spanning classic Ragnarok classes, such as Knights, Mages, Priests, and Hunters. Not much else has been revealed about the game, but further details are expected once the release window nears.
Ragnarok Franchise Continues Developing New Projects

Since the launch of Ragnarok Online in 2002, the franchise has grown into one of South Korea's most recognizable MMORPG series, attracting millions of players worldwide and expanding across PC, mobile, and multiple regional spin-offs.
Over the years, Gravity has continued to introduce new entries and adaptations while building on the setting, classes, lore, and mythology that helped establish the series. Ragnarok Console Project gets added to the ever-growing list of Ragnarok games. After more than a decade’s wait, Gravity re-enters the market with the Ragnarok Console Project for modern gaming platforms.
The last time Gravity released a console-focused title was between 2012 and 2013, when they launched Ragnarok Odyssey for the PS Vita, followed by an updated version called Ragnarok Odyssey Ace for both PS3 and PS Vita. Earlier entries like Ragnarok DS and Ragnarok Tactics also offered single-player experiences, though both were limited to handheld platforms of their time. Ragnarok Console Project marks a clear step forward in that direction, reflecting Gravity's current push to bring the franchise to a wider and newer audience.

The fantasy series definitely shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Gravity also recently announced that their other project, Ragnarok Online 3, will begin technical testing in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau before taking the game to additional regions in the future. The upcoming MMORPG just shared its first developer diary, highlighting progress on PC optimizations, new gameplay systems, seasonal content, and implementing community feedback.
With both Ragnarok Online 3 and Ragnarok Console Project confirmed to be in ongoing development, Gravity is actively exploring multiple directions for the franchise as it prepares for its next generation of releases.
Ragnarok Console Project is currently in the works with a planned release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
