Pragmata Sequel Might Be In The Works After Record-Breaking 2.5 Million Sales

Pragmata, Capcom's newest IP, is on track to a sequel following impressive sales numbers, says Capcom Corporate Officer Shimauchi.

Pragmata Sales Point To Steady Growth For The IP

2.5 Million Sales For A 3-Month-Old Game

Hugh and Diana Looking At Resident Devil Poster

Pragmata's sequel might just be on the horizon following massive sales that "exceeded the company's internal expectations." Because of its outstanding performance, the "likelihood of a sequel is high," further adding to the possibility of Pragmata being another pillar franchise.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Capcom Corporate Officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi shared that the sci-fi action-adventure title surpassed 2.5 million copies in sales since its release on April 17th, and it resulted in a smash hit thanks to the strong pre-release marketing and the wide appeal of the main character, Diana. While there are no concrete details to the project just yet, the game's popularity is a factor that Capcom cannot ignore, pointing to a sequel coming soon rather than later.

Capcom FY2026 Financial Report on Game Sales

In Capcom’s most recent earnings report, Pragmata has topped its Unit Sales Ranking chart, soaring over well-loved titles in franchises like the Resident Evil series and Devil May Cry. Capcom specifically highlighted in their major takeaways that "strong new and catalog title performance" led to outstanding growth in sales, emphasizing that it was Pragmata and the Resident Evil series that brought them to reach their sales goals.

Capcom and Capcom USA Agree to Expand Pragmata

Capcom USA seems to echo the same sentiments, as Chief Operating Officer Rob Dyer previously shared that the sci-fi space adventure IP is definitely one that the company will be continuing to expand on. "We're at a point now where we've got another IP that Capcom, and god bless them, has an arsenal, that we can continue to go down," Dyer said in the Interactive Innovation Conference (iicon) 2026.

He also pointed out that the game managed to sell a whopping 1 million units across different platforms in just two days despite being a completely new IP, marking a strong start and a bright future for Hugh and Diana.
