Poppy Playtime's hit Chapter 5 is finally making its way to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Here's what console players can expect when they step back into the toy factory.
Mob Entertainment Announces Chapter 5’s Console Release Date
Arrives on May 27 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox
Poppy Playtime makes an anticipated return on consoles with Chapter 5: Broken Things this May 27, 2026, months after its successful release last February. The horror game is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, and the release will be a digital port.
Chapter 5 sends players deeper into the Playtime Co. factory with no backup and Huggy Wuggy closing in from behind. The chapter culminates in a long-awaited confrontation with the Prototype, the shadowy figure pulling the strings behind the factory's horrors, while slowly peeling back secrets that have been set up across the entire series.
Zach Belanger, CEO and co-founder of Mob Entertainment, explained in a press release from Games Press that Chapter 5 pushed the studio in new creative directions both in terms of story and atmosphere. He added that the team felt eager for an audience to experience "first-hand" what's waiting inside the factory.
How Fans Are Taking It

The console announcement has been warmly received, particularly among players who were either unable to play or those who skipped the PC version. Those who experienced the chapter earlier in the year have spoken positively about the experience, highlighting the horror, jumpscares, standout characters, and a story that keeps players interested in what comes next.
A general consensus points that this chapter holds up well for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series. Nintendo Switch owners have also been vocal about the console news. Fans are hoping that Chapters 4 and 5 will eventually get a physical bundle treatment similar to the one that exists for the first three chapters.
Chapter 5 follows the same PC-first, consoles-later pattern established by previous entries. Chapter 4, for reference, launched on PC in January 2025 before reaching consoles that June at $19.99.
What Is Poppy Playtime?

Poppy Playtime is a puzzle-centric horror adventure series from Mob Entertainment, originally released in 2021. Set inside the infamous abandoned Playtime Co. toy factory, players must survive encounters with the company's monstrous creations while digging into the history and mystery of what really happened there.
In a similar vein to Five Nights at Freddy's, Poppy Playtime draws much of its appeal from the unsettling contrast between child-friendly toy aesthetics and genuine horror. Both franchises have also built communities around lore-hunting and fan theories, with players investing heavily in piecing together the darker truths hidden beneath the surface of what appears to be a colorful, playful setting.
What started as a small indie title has since grown into one of the more recognizable franchises in the indie horror space, with a passionate fanbase and a consistent rollout of new chapters. Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 launches May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It is currently available on PC via Steam.
