Adds a Cloud Island and Japan Store Displays
Pokémon Pokopia teams up with IKEA starting April 1 as part of IKEA Japan’s 20th anniversary, adding a limited-time IKEA-themed Cloud Island available through June 30, along with Pokémon-themed room displays and in-store campaigns across Japan running until May 10.
According to details shared on IKEA’s official website, the collaboration features Pikachu and Snorlax rooms designed by IKEA’s interior designers, which appear both in-game and in IKEA stores in Japan, where players can take part in stamp rallies, enter a lottery, and experience decorated food and photo spots.
A statement on the website, as translated via machine translation, touches on the idea behind the collaboration: "Over the past 20 years in Japan, IKEA has believed that a home you love grows with you. This belief, combined with our partnership with Pokémon, has led to a special collaboration between IKEA Japan and the new Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia. We want to convey the message that, just like in the game, anyone can create a home that truly reflects who they are in real life."
IKEA-Themed Island, Pokémon-Themed Rooms
A key part of the collaboration is the in-game "IKEA Island," a custom Cloud Island players can visit, similar to other player-made islands in Pokémon Pokopia, with fully furnished spaces inspired by Pikachu and Snorlax.
These designs are also brought into the real world. In Japan, participating IKEA stores recreate these rooms using actual catalog items, offering visitors a chance to experience the same concepts outside the game. However, rather than introducing licensed Pokémon furniture, the displays rely on existing products arranged to match each theme.
A clear example is the Snorlax-themed space, which leans into a relaxed, cozy setup, where the in-game version centers on a large bed and laid-back furnishings, while its real-world counterpart recreates the same feel using standard IKEA items such as a blue-and-white striped bed and neutral-toned pieces.
The Pikachu-themed room leans into a brighter, more playful setup, featuring a Pikachu-shaped couch and bold yellow accents in-game, while the real-world display recreates the same look using standard IKEA items such as a yellow sofa, polka-dotted stools, and coordinated decor.
In-Store Activities and Rewards
In addition to the room displays, visitors can take part in a stamp rally running from April 18 to May 10 by collecting a stamp rally card and completing trivia questions at stations throughout the store. Once all seven stamps are collected, the card can be exchanged for a souvenir.
IKEA Family members who spend at least 5,000 yen during the event can receive exclusive Pokémon Pokopia stickers and access to a lottery via a QR code provided in-store. Prizes include IKEA gift cards, original keychains, and a full set of campaign stickers, with select winners receiving higher-value rewards such as a 100,000 yen gift card.
The collaboration also includes decorated food items in IKEA’s Swedish restaurants and dedicated photo spots.
