Gran Turismo 7 Features PlayStation’s The Playerbase
One Fan Will Be Selected Through Applications and Interviews

Gran Turismo 7 is the first game to feature The Playerbase, a new community program announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment on April 7 via a PlayStation Blog post, offering fans a chance to be scanned into the game and appear as an in-game character. Applications are open from April 7 at 7:00 AM PDT (10:00 AM EDT) through April 26 at 11:59 PM PDT (2:59 AM EDT on April 27).
Introduced by Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, The Playerbase is open to players in select markets across the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. She described it as a "unique opportunity for PlayStation’s biggest fans to step into some of the biggest game worlds by having their likeness scanned and appear in a PlayStation game."

The selection process has multiple stages. In the first round, entries are evaluated based on written submissions and account activity, including originality, relevance to PlayStation Studios fandom, personal connection to PlayStation, and overall engagement with both PlayStation and Polyphony Digital titles, such as play history and trophies earned. Around 50 to 150 applicants will advance to the next stage.
Those selected will be notified around April 30 and will proceed to recorded video interviews, during which participants will be evaluated and asked about their passion for PlayStation and Gran Turismo 7, their personal story with the brand, and their ability to represent the community while delivering engaging, shareable content. From this stage, three finalists will be chosen to proceed to the final round.

In the final stage, judges will decide on one potential winner and two runner-ups, with notifications expected around June 15. The selected participant will then be confirmed following final background checks before appearing in the game. The judges may also consider the runner-ups if the winner is unable to complete final requirements.
Aside from their appearance, they will also help design a custom Fantasy Logo, a personalized emblem that can be applied across cars and driver gear, as well as a unique vehicle livery, a custom car design made using colors, decals, and patterns. Both will be permanently added to the game’s Showcase menu. Their likeness will be captured using 3D scanning technology during a session at a PlayStation visual arts studio in Los Angeles, with travel and accommodation provided for the winner and a plus one.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, The Playerbase will begin with Gran Turismo 7 and is planned to expand to additional PlayStation Studios titles in the near future. The winner is expected to be selected in summer 2026, and their in-game appearance is planned as part of a limited-time update later this year.
Gran Turismo 7 is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
