God of War: Laufey Coming Exclusively to PlayStation 5 Soon

Sony's State of Play for June 2026 saved the best for last: a spin-off God of War game centered on Kratos' Giantess wife, Laufey. Far removed from the mainline entries' Nordic realms, God of War: Laufey takes players into the seemingly bizarre "Afterlife of the Gods," a purgatory-like realm inhabited by fallen mythological deities from across different cultures.
The whopping 20-minute gameplay showcase revealed how combat works, maintaining the series' third-person roots while placing a greater emphasis on aerial combos and an extra flurry of magical attacks thanks to Laufey's innate powers.
Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil, True Blood) returns as Faye as she attempts to uncover answers within this mysterious, lawless realm. She is joined by an odd Jell-O cube named Phranque, voiced by Jack Quaid (The Boys, Companion), as well as an enchanted ribbon attached to a sword named Rue. God of War: Laufey has no release date yet, but it will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5.
Marvel’s Wolverine Reveals Jean Grey and Other Characters in New Extended Gameplay Trailer

Marvel’s Wolverine kicks off the PlayStation State of Play June 2026 presentation with an all-new extended gameplay trailer featuring Jean Grey and other characters that players will encounter in the game. Logan’s fellow X-Men, equipped with their powerful telekinetic abilities, will fight alongside him to free captured mutants from Bolivar Trask’s hired guns, the Reavers.
As previewed, Wolverine will use his classic "Techniques" like Tornado Spin and Bull Rush to brutally slice up enemies and dish out devastating combos. The latest teaser also highlighted the game’s focus on gore, showing Logan being drenched in his enemies’ blood, and a whole lot of dismembering.
During the trailer, developer Insomniac Games shared snippets of other familiar faces, such as Mystique, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and more. They also opened pre-orders for the game following the livestream event.
Rayman Legends Retold Announced for October 1, 2026

Rayman Legends Retold reimagines the classic platformer with a complete visual overhaul, fully voiced cinematics, and an all-new story. When a mysterious threat emerges in the Glade of Dreams, Rayman and his friends set out on a new adventure to restore peace across the realms.
Along the way, players will explore a reimagined world filled with new surprises, rescue Teensies, and take on memorable boss battles. The remake also introduces a sixth realm, new musical stages, dragon-riding sequences, additional Cave of Trials challenges, and an expanded soundtrack. Rayman Legends Retold launches on October 1, 2026, for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
Until Dawn 2 Revealed, Releasing Exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2027

As a standalone sequel, Until Dawn 2 will feature an entirely new and original cast, centering on a group of internet famous ghost hunters tasked with exploring an abandoned island. Along the way, these characters will encounter unseen horrors and players must make difficult decisions to ensure their survival.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has now confirmed a release date on February 12, 2027. It is a 2026 remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider game, reimagining Lara Croft’s debut outing with modern graphics, revamped gameplay, and additional new content.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis follows British archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft, who was hired to hunt down an artifact called the Scion of Atlantis. PlayStation State of Play June 2026 | What to Expect

Trying to predict a PlayStation State of Play is always part educated guesswork, part wishful thinking. Sony usually opts to tease just one or two major attractions while leaving the rest of the presentation open for surprises. Sony has mentioned "news and announcements for games coming to PS5," which likely mean more reveals and release date updates.
New Look at Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is already locked in for the June 2026 State of Play. Sony confirmed that the showcase will open with a new look at the game, alongside fresh details about its "brutal and relentless combat." The presentation will also likely give fans a better idea of how the game actually plays, since Insomniac Games has mostly stayed quiet since the title’s original reveal.
Before this announcement, Insomniac only teased that more reveals would arrive sometime in spring 2026. The studio notably skipped the February 2026 State of Play, despite heavy fan expectations at the time. Since then, Sony and Insomniac have shared very little beyond short updates and promotional posts, which makes this upcoming showcase the first major spotlight on the project in quite a while. Because the game is now only a few months away from release, fans will likely expect story details and a closer look at Wolverine’s combat style during the broadcast.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Gameplay Could Get Revealed

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has become one of the biggest question marks in PlayStation’s lineup. Naughty Dog first revealed the game during The Game Awards 2024 with a cinematic trailer that introduced bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun and the planet Sempiria. Since that reveal, though, the studio has not shown another trailer or update for the project. Right now, fans only know a few story details.
So far, all that’s confirmed is that it is a sci-fi "game about faith and religion." It’s set in an alternate 1986, and Jordan is pursuing the Five Aces criminal syndicate in Sempiria, a world that has been isolated for over six centuries. Many fans expect the June 2026 State of Play to showcase what Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet actually looks like in motion.
God of War Trilogy Remake First Look is Likely

The God of War Trilogy Remake was announced during the February 2026 State of Play. Fans were given a title card… and that’s about it. Sony has shared no details beyond that first announcement. There has been no gameplay footage, no screenshots, and no release window yet. Santa Monica Studio said that the project remains "very early in development," so fans should not expect it anytime soon.
However, this doesn’t mean that fans will not get perhaps a first look of the game. The original God of War games helped define the PS2 and PS3 eras, but much of the Greek saga still remains stuck on old hardware today. Sony has yet to explain how closely these remakes will stick to the originals, or if the combat and structure will be overhauled for modern audiences. Hopefully, fans will get some answers this June 2.
FF7 Remake Part 3’s Title Could Get Revealed

Final Fantasy VII (FF7) Remake Part 3 is one of the most expected PlayStation-related updates for this State of Play. Square Enix has already confirmed that the project is in development, and it will wrap up the remake trilogy that began with FF7 Remake and continued with FF7 Rebirth. The team has also said that development has been smooth and that the story direction is already set, but there has been no public gameplay or trailer so far. Right now, all attention is still on how the final part will complete Cloud’s journey.
Since Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launched in 2024, Square Enix has kept details on Part 3 very quiet. There isn’t even an official title yet. Even a short teaser or a title reveal would already be a big deal for fans. If not, this could still be the kind of event where Square Enix simply confirms the final name of the project, which has become a common expectation in the community at this point.
More Updates and Reveals are Expected

This is only part of what Sony may show during the June 2026 State of Play. The full lineup is always kept secret until the broadcast goes live, and PlayStation often saves a few surprises for the actual event itself. Even with strong expectations around these big titles, nothing is fully set until Sony takes the stage. More details and possible surprises will only become clear once the showcase airs on June 2.
What is PlayStation State of Play?

PlayStation State of Play is a regular program by Sony that aims to deliver updates on upcoming and recently released games, as well as hardware and other PlayStation-related news. It is their showcase event, similar to Nintendo Direct and Xbox Developer Direct, that is pre-recorded and streamed online, featuring game trailers, developer insights, and sometimes surprise announcements.
There is no strict schedule for PlayStation State of Play showcases. It can happen multiple times a year, depending on whether Sony has anything major to share with the gaming community, whether it’s about their own IPs, indies, or other big updates.
