What To Expect In PlayStation State of Play Japan September 2026
Deep Dives and Reveals From Devs in Japan and Across Asia

As with the main State of Play, Sony has remained mum about the lineup for State of Play Japan. The company has only confirmed that the showcase will feature "deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more."
The timing of the presentation, though, could point toward several major Japanese releases, especially with Tokyo Game Show 2026 scheduled for later this month. Sega and Atlus have already announced a substantial TGS lineup that includes several upcoming PlayStation titles.
Persona 4 Revival Likely to Appear in State of Play Japan

Persona 4 Revival is one of the more likely candidates to appear. Atlus has announced the remake in June 2025 and has since shown more of its story, characters, and combat through dedicated presentations and gameplay trailers. The game received another playable demo at Gamescom 2026, where producer Kazuhisa Wada discussed changes to the remake and its updated presentation.
The game is scheduled for February 18, 2027, and is included in Sega and Atlus’ Tokyo Game Show lineup. The two studios may keep the ball rolling by showing new gameplay or revealing more about the remake ahead of its launch.
Stranger Than Heaven Gameplay Showcase is Another Possibility

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s new action-adventure, Stranger Than Heaven, was first revealed as Project Century at The Game Awards in December 2024 and has since received a much more detailed presentation through Xbox and Gamescom. The game is now scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, with its five-era Japanese setting and new combat system among the features fans are most excited for.
Its recent Gamescom appearance means the project is already in an active promotional period, so its appearance in State of Play Japan is likely.
More Games Expected to Appear

These are only a few of the games that could appear during State of Play Japan. The showcase may follow the main State of Play presentation, but it could still bring plenty of major announcements and updates of its own.
What is PlayStation State of Play Japan?

State of Play Japan is a PlayStation showcase dedicated to upcoming games from developers and publishers in Japan and across Asia. Like the regular State of Play, it gives Sony and its partners a platform to reveal new games and provide updates on previously announced projects. The presentation does not follow a fixed schedule and typically takes place when PlayStation has a slate of games it wants to highlight for audiences in the region.
