Pearl in Blue took the stage during TGS 2026, with a special talk showcase introducing its romantic comedy premise and unique world of modern day knights fighting as celebrities.
Pearl in Blue is a Romantic Comedy Mobile Game Where Heroines Become Knights

Netmarble held a special talk showcase on the first official day of TGS 2026, putting the spotlight on its upcoming game Pearl in Blue. With the developers bringing plenty of energy to the presentation—and even opening the showcase with a lovely poem—it was fitting that they introduced the game as a romantic comedy.
Pearl in Blue is seemingly going to be an episodic visual novel, with the developers revealing that the episodes are scheduled to release monthly. At the heart of the story are its four main heroines and their desires. By obtaining what they each desire, the heroines can bloom into knights and take on the monsters plaguing their world.
Ultimately, Pearl in Blue is shaping up to be a coming-of-age story, with the narrative told primarily in a Visual Novel format. The presentation showed scenes that feel much like reading a comic, alongside interactive sections that let players engage with the story.
Combat Brings Interactivity

The main interactive element shown during the showcase was Pearl in Blue’s combat. The first came during a cutscene featuring a Quick Time Event (QTE), where players must press the prompted button at the right moment to cover an incoming attack from an enemy.
The other is real-time combat, where players can attack, parry, and deflect incoming attacks. Players can also target specific parts of an enemy to break them, which appears to be something the players will need to consider during battles. The showcase also featured what appears to be an Ultimate move that can be unleashed during combat.

These battles take place in 2D, giving the VN style a more action-oriented feel.
However, that doesn’t mean Pearl in Blue will be confined to a purely 2D presentation. During the showcase, a segment was shown where players could move around in 2.5D, allowing them to walk around and explore the area they were currently in.
The Four Heroines of Pearl in Blue
They also introduced the four main heroines of Pearl in Blue: Ichiha, Nika, Miho, and Yotsuba. Together, they form the Dark Knights, a group of heroes who fight using Pearl Light.
Ichiha, the pink-haired leader of the group, is energetic and lively, with the kind of personality that makes her think she’s stronger than everyone else. Nika, meanwhile, is a confident tsundere and the first heroine introduced to have an interaction with the male protagonist. Miho is the calmer member of the group. While she comes across as quiet, she may also have a blunt personality that will show through. Finally, Yotsuba has a very purehearted personality, and seemingly eager to lend a hand.
There’s not much else to analyze about their personalities just yet, given how little the showcase revealed about each heroine. What is more interesting, however, is how their abilities tie into Pearl in Blue’s central concept of "blooming."

Everyone in Pearl in Bloom’s world is born with a Pearl, essentially a seed of desire. Fed by pain and adversity, a Pearl can eventually bloom. This transformation turns one’s strongest desire into a tangible form called Pearl Light. A pearl Light can take any form depending on the person. A sword, a gun, or something far less conventional.
This explains the heroines’ ability to manifest weapons from within themselves. Ichiha draws her weapon from her foot, Nika from her palm, Miho from her outer thigh, and Yotsuba from the top of her head.
It also gives the game’s "blooming" premise a little more weight, since their weapons are seemingly born from something they’ve endured and something they’ve desperately wished for.
Modern Day Knights in a Modern Day World

In Pearl in Blue’s world crawling with monsters that threaten the people, the knights that protect them are no longer paladins clad in traditional shining armor. Instead, they are modern-day heroes and popular personalities wielding the power of Pearl Light; the physical manifestation of their desires that had fed on enough of their wielder’s pain and adversity.
Beyond their duties on the battlefield, these knights function as full-fledged celebrities, starring in advertisements, hosting livestreams, and engaging directly with fans across social media.
Enter the Dark Knights: a newly assembled unit of four troublesome heroines. Due to their chaotic reputation, the Order of Knights hands them a harsh ultimatum: gain 100,000 followers within six months, or face immediate disbandment.

This is where the protagonist comes in. Thrust into the role of their Manager after a messy chance meeting with one of the members, he is forced to take charge of the group and keep their careers afloat. Together, they must navigate the dual hardships of monster battles and brand marketing, all while building a fragile, yet intimate bond through shared comedy, personal trauma, and newfound affection.
Will our protagonist manage to pull off a PR miracle, or will this job end up being the death of him or his adolescence?
