Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Reveals Teostra at Tokyo Game Show 2026
Teostra Ignites Excitement in the Extended Trailer
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance revealed Teostra coming to the expansion at the Capcom Spotlight in TGS 2026 and what hunters can expect in the demo. Alongside Teostra's unveiling, the team announced the Monster will be available to encounter at expert-level difficulty.
Teostra's inclusion marks another chapter for the renowned Elder Dragon, who first debuted in 2006's Monster Hunter 2. Since its introduction, the Emperor of Flame has remained a staple endgame threat across major entries, including Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Monster Hunter: World, and Monster Hunter Rise.
Base Game Lessened Focus on Elder Dragons

Teostra and the reveal of other Elder Dragons such as Gundoraja and Lao-Shan Lung, also further place an end to the long-standing debate on Capcom choosing not to focus on Elder Dragons from Monster Hunter Wilds. This originally stemmed from an interview on Weibo prior to the game’s release, where main director Yuya Tokuda explained that base Wilds focused heavily on the environment and interactions instead of Elder Dragon investigations like Monster Hunter: World.
Tokuda additionally clarified at the time that Elder Dragons were not "essential" to the core theme of the base game's story. This, in turn, led some fans to misinterpret the statement as a shutdown on the monster class. Now with another added Elder Dragon, the team seems to have placed it back as a priority for Ascendance instead.
The Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance DLC expansion is set to launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. For more information and updates on the game, check out the page below:
