PEAK “Play It Your Way” Update Adds Custom Runs, Campfire Autosaves, and More

PEAK Paige

PEAK "Play It Your Way" update introduces significant features, including Custom Runs and Campfire Autosaves. Here is a closer look at how the new autosave system works and what players can expect from the deep customization options.

PEAK "Play It Your Way" Update Out Now!

Custom Runs Includes New Grapple Mode

PEAK, the viral co-op climbing game, has just released its "Play It Your Way" update, which gives players more control over their mountaineering experience. As detailed by developer Landcrab on a Steam post on March 31, the latest patch brings custom runs, mini runs, campfire autosaves, and so much more.

Players can now fully customize their runs by toggling settings such as fall damage, item weight, spawn pools, and environmental hazards. This update also introduces a new Grapple Mode (which the devs have explicitly labeled "stupid"), giving Scouts a Rescue Claw with unlimited uses at the cost of increased stamina consumption.

It is important to note that engaging in custom runs will disable badge and achievement progression. This new feature can be accessed via the Boarding Kiosk at the Airport.

Mini Runs, Campfire Autosaves, and More

PEAK Campfire

With sessions often exceeding an hour, Landcrab has added a "Mini Runs" option to the Custom Runs menu. This new mode lets players complete a single biome of the daily map rather than a full run.

Furthermore, players who need to pause their progress can now utilize Campfire Autosaves. This feature allows scouts to exit an expedition and resume it later, with the save remaining active until the run is won, lost, or a new session is started

In tandem with the new autosave system, players can now remain at campfires indefinitely without hunger accumulating or the fog progressing. The fire will remain lit until a Scout leaves the immediate vicinity.

Zombie Phobia Mode and Bugfixes

PEAK New Update Out Now

Beyond these major features, the "Play It Your Way" update introduces a Zombie Phobia mode for players who prefer to avoid undead imagery. This setting replaces the zombie aesthetic triggered by eating deadly mushrooms in Roots with a more approachable "Mushroom Man" appearance.

There are also several bug fixes that improve each climbing experience significantly. This includes maintaining progress for achievements even when players disconnect, fixing the long-standing rope shooter issue, making Rescue Hooks easier to use, and so much more.

PEAK Bingbong Plushie

The developers concluded the patch notes by announcing that new merchandise is now available for pre-order. Fans can visit the official PEAK online store to find the Scout Master Myres Plush (a collaboration with Makeship), the Binbong Keyring (produced with Youtooz), and various other items.

The PEAK bundle in Fortnite also dropped last weekend, which includes a PEAK Scout skin, PEAK backpack, Scout’s Marshmallow item, and more.

PEAK Requests

Nearly 10 months after its debut, the hit co-op climber has earned widespread recognition from several major organizations, including a nomination for Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards 2025 and a win for Best Multiplayer Game at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards.

Here at Game8, we gave PEAK a 76 out of 100 for its clever co-op design, despite its occasional bugs and communication issues. To know more about our thoughts on the game, check out our review here.

PEAK I Want More

Despite Landcrab’s announcement last December regarding a shift to a slower update pace for 2026, this latest patch proves the team is far from finished rolling out significant new content. It will also be interesting to see what the developers have in store for the game’s upcoming anniversary this June.

PEAK is available on PC via Steam. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below.
