Overwatch x YOASOBI Collab Starts June 30 with New Kiriko Skin, Story, Music Video, and Song

The previously teased Overwatch x YOASOBI collaboration is finally official, bringing in a new short story, animated music video, collab song, and a new set of skins starting June 30th.
Overwatch Goes J-Music With YOASOBI
A Highly Anticipated Collaboration
Overwatch x YOASOBI is finally official, as revealed on the game’s X (Twitter) account. On June 30th or July 1st for Japan, Overwatch players will get to see a new short story, new skins for Kiriko, Genji, Hanzo "and more", a new collab song called Orion, and an animated music video created by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Kaguya-sama: Love is War?, Solo Leveling).
The collaboration was previously hinted at in a post by the official Overwatch X (Twitter), which was reposted by the Japanese musical duo’s official X account back on May 12th. It featured a supposed Instagram-like screenshot of Overwatch and YOASOBI teasing an "inspiring" partnership.
Kiriko New Skin, With Genji, Hanzo and More to Follow

A new skin for popular support character Kiriko is revealed first. In a concept art image revealed in the announcement thread, she is clad in a top and short skirt ensemble with hues of neon green, cyan, and vibrant reds against a grey and white base. On her waist is a fox-themed CD player with ambient visual effects to complete the Neo Tokyo vibe.
With Kiriko starting off the list, Genji, Hanzo, and other unspecified characters will gradually be revealed as the collaboration launch date draws near.
Collaboration Song with YOASOBI and Music Video by A-1 Pictures

True to a partnership with a famed Japanese music duo, a new collab song complete with animated music video will be released on June 30th. The song is titled Orion, and an instrumental snippet of the track is revealed through the 40-second teaser in the X (Twitter) post.
Furthermore, the track will be accompanied by an animated music video created by Japanese animation studio A-1 Pictures, known for their works across several popular anime such as Sword Art Online, Black Butler, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, and more. The teaser shows images of presumably a younger Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko.
The Fall of A Sparrow Short Story Lore

Rounding off the collaboration is a released short story called "The Fall of a Sparrow". Written by E. C. Myers (Fair Coin) and the cover illustrated by Manda Schank, it tells the story of Genji Shimada, who returns to Tokyo to scout the threat of Vendetta and Talon in the city, only to find more than he initially bargained for.
While not directly tied to the collaboration, it heavily inspired the YOASOBI collab. It is canon in the game’s lore, and is connected to the Overwatch webtoon comic as well.
