HoYoverse's Next Title is a Co-Op Action Game
Nodusfall Showcases Combat and Fantasy World in Gamescom 2026 Reveal
Nodusfall is HoYoverse's newest game, and it looks nothing like the games that made the studio one of the biggest names in the industry. Revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, the new action title follows a world where, according to official press materials, "divine authority has crumbled, and order has collapsed." Mythical beings are then left to roam the lands. As Weavers, players join forces to battle these threats.
The trailer shows groups of players fighting creatures that tower over their characters. The Weavers use their weapons alongside a light-based power that appears throughout the fights. The power can pull a Weaver toward a creature and can be used to bring a fallen ally back into the fight. It can also transform a Weaver into a giant warrior made of light. HoYoverse has yet to provide a full explanation of how combat works, but it is confirmed to be co-op-based.
The footage has drawn comparisons to Monster Hunter and Elden Ring. The co-op battles against enormous creatures bring Monster Hunter to mind. The game’s fantasy setting and towering enemies recall Elden Ring. Both comparisons are a departure from the anime-inspired action games HoYoverse is best known for.

The trailer’s title, "Wield Divinity, Sever the Dreadnodus," introduces the term Dreadnodus. HoYoverse has not explained what the name refers to. The creatures shown in the trailer are presented as threats within the game’s world, but the company has not identified them individually or explained their connection to the aforementioned term as of writing.
What we do know, though, is that Weavers will seek to recover the divine power that remains and can form bonds with powerful companions during the journey. The trailer refers to memories and severed threads, though developers have not yet explained how those elements connect to the events that caused the world’s current state.
The game’s mythology remains largely unexplained beyond what HoYoverse revealed at Gamescom. The company confirmed, however, that Nodusfall draws inspiration from diverse mythologies, "from ancient beasts rooted in Eastern folklore to colossal dragons that herald the coming of catastrophe."

Though it was only just announced, Nodusfall's name had already appeared in trademark records. Cognosphere Pte. Ltd. filed the NODUSFALL trademark in the United States on April 29, 2026. The application covers downloadable game software and mobile applications alongside a range of other goods and entertainment services. The application remains pending.
HoYoverse has not announced when Nodusfall will be released or which platforms will receive it. They have also yet to confirm whether the game will be free-to-play like their other titles.

"master of free gacha games"? what u smoking, cant wait to not get into a team cause idk the mech or dont have godlike equipment
Not sure if their current player base is wanting co-op gameplay. Many Genshin Impact players hate it. If you can't solo the game that eliminates a lot of potential users. The game looks interesting, though. Hoyo is the master of "free" gacha games, so I'm sure it will be free to play, hard to get good characters/items, and thus compel players to spend money to save time grinding.
holy shit hoyo is so hated, their games are getting attacked and haters on the first trailer years before release lmao. twitch chat was brutal. no one cared about how the game is, if hoyo releases GTA V they will lose 90% of players holy shit
