10th Anniversary Events Run Throughout July
Mystic Messenger's developer, Cheritz, has unveiled a series of anniversary events along with a price change notice, while thanking players directly for their long-term support. The mobile game's 10th anniversary happens on July 9, 2026, exactly ten years after the game's original launch. The devs noted that reaching this milestone wouldn't have been possible without the community, as they’re "filled with more gratitude and excitement than ever before."
In celebration, developer Cheritz will release a commemorative 10th anniversary photo on X (Twitter) on July 9, with 15 randomly selected players who repost it receiving 50 Hourglasses (premium currency) each. Another giveaway is open to anyone who shares a celebratory message on X (Twitter) or Instagram using the hashtag #Congrats_10thanniv_MM, with another 15 winners set to receive the same reward, also through a random draw. The repost giveaway runs from July 9 to July 16, while the hashtag giveaway started earlier on June 29 and lasts until July 16 as well, with winners for both raffle events announced on July 30.
An in-game login event is available alongside the social media celebrations. From June 30 to July 16, daily title images will be revealed in a countdown leading up to the anniversary, making up one special final image. The separate login rewards period from July 2 to July 9 will additionally offer daily rewards and benefits, along with a "special intro chat" letting players see the RFA members leading up to the anniversary.
Hourglass Prices Increasing by 30%
Apart from anniversary celebrations, Cheritz also announced that Mystic Messenger will see its first-ever price increase since launching in 2016. Effective July 24, the cost of Hourglasses and other paid in-game items will rise by an average of 30% or more, with some Hourglass costs for Deep Story, Another Story, DLC, and Seasonal content also affected.
Cheritz explained that the original launch pricing had been maintained for a full decade specifically to keep the game accessible to as many players as possible, but they have "reached a point where maintaining the original price no longer allows for stable operation." The studio explained that the decision was necessary for the game's continued long-term operation and encouraged players curious about any unexplored Deep Story, Another Story, or DLC content to try it before the new pricing takes effect.
On a positive note, player reaction to the price increase has been largely understanding. Many longtime fans across social media platforms are pointing out that this adjustment feels reasonable in comparison to today’s current standards for mobile games.
Mystic Messenger is available on iOS and Android. The anniversary events run through July 16, 2026, with the price increase taking effect July 24, 2026.
