Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Welcomes Back Kushala Daora and Lao Shan Lung

Releases 2027

Monster Hunter Wilds developer Capcom announced at the Summer Game Fest 2026 on June 5 that its first massive expansion is coming in 2027. To access the Ascendance expansion, players must first complete the 7-star assignment: Awaking From a Dream in the base game.

One of the biggest appearances in the reveal trailer is the return of Elder Dragons Kushala Daora and Lao Shan Lung, which are classified as the series’ ultra-powerful, ancient monsters capable of defying the ecosystem's laws. The video preview featured Kushala Daora hurling a pack of Doshaguma monsters, while the fearsome Lao Shan Lung makes an official, living return after its decade‑long absence since Generations Ultimate.

MHW Riding a Seikret

Aside from the god-like entities making their appearance in the game, the upcoming DLC features a new location in the clouds. According to the trailer, the floating islands of the Eastlands negated gravity using Wysteria's ancient technology. Mounting a Seikret allows the player to glide between the islands.

In the Eastlands, players can hunt new monsters using an expanded roster of attacks in the Boost Bracer hunting tool. Moreover, the newly added Master Rank quests raise the challenge by introducing higher‑tier monsters and unlocking the ability to craft new weapons and armor.

MHW Hunter in shock

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is an expansion of the 2025 action RPG game. The DLC will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027, though the exact date has not yet been confirmed.
