MECCHA CHAMELEON has officially sold three million copies as of June 16, just six days after it was released on Steam. Developer lemorion_1224 thanked fans on X (formerly Twitter) and Steam and confirmed that a new map will be added "today or tomorrow" to celebrate the massive milestone.
Initially, MECCHA CHAMELEON reported one million copies sold on June 13, just three days post-launch. It then announced another million two days later, along with the addition of a new map later in the week.
On June 16, lemorion_1224 confirmed that the game had reached three million copies sold and that the aforementioned map would launch either today or tomorrow. Although the game received an update patch on the same day, it included only bug fixes with no news on the new map.

The game’s staggering sales momentum means it sold its third million in a single day. Beyond breaking its own impressive sales milestones, MECCHA CHAMELEON has also maintained extraordinary player retention. Concurrent player numbers grew rapidly from approximately 5,000 at launch to an all-time peak of almost 210,000 in under a week.
MECCHA CHAMELEON is one of Steam’s most played new arrivals. Currently, it is the platform’s top-selling and most rapidly wishlisted game.
The viral indie hide-and-seek painting co-op took the internet by storm with a gameplay preview posted on X in early May that garnered over six million views. After launch, viral gameplay clips of players’ creative and hilarious ways of painting their avatars into the environment skyrocketed the game’s popularity.
Despite being one of countless viral co-op "friendslop" indie games flooding the market since the success of games such as Among Us and It Takes Two, MECCHA CHAMELEON has managed to stand out by expanding on Call of Duty’s popular Prop Hunt mode and offering players unprecedented creative freedom in blending into the environment.
