Blade, Loki, Deadpool Announced for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Samurai Outriders, Assemble!
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will add Blade, Loki, and Deadpool to complete its playable roster before the game's August 2026 launch. Alongside this announcement, developers Arc System Works also confirmed that players will be able to try the game out during a global open beta scheduled for later this July.
The latest reveals were announced during EVO 2026, where the developers showcased the game's fifth and final character team, known as the "Samurai Outriders." The group is led by the previously announced Ghost Rider and is completed by the aforementioned trio. According to the developers, the four antiheroes are not natural allies, and their story in the game's Episode Mode will focus on how they gradually come together to face "threats to the world.".
Each of the three newcomers has a distinct fighting style. Blade, for instance, has an "aggressive combat style." This means he specializes in close-range combat with his "demon-slaying sword Muramasa" while making use of firearms and vampire abilities to pressure opponents.
Loki, meanwhile, as the "God of Mischief," relies on illusions and trickery to "confuse opponents" before striking from unexpected angles. Beware, though, as his unpredictability also means that, if exposed, "he may be punished heavily."
Lastly, Deadpool embraces his "reckless nature" with a moveset built around swords, guns, grenades, and self-damaging attacks "enabled by his powerful healing factor." His moves include references to classic fighting games, which fits his well-known habit of breaking the fourth wall.

The update also introduces Asgard as a new playable stage. Inspired by the iconic realm from Marvel Comics, the stage is divided into several connected areas, including the Observatory, the Bifrost Bridge, the Throne Room, the Treasure Vault, and Yggdrasil. Battles move across these locations during a match.

With the Samurai Outriders now revealed, every launch team for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has been announced. Previous updates introduced groups such as the Fighting Avengers and the Knights of Doom, gradually expanding the roster with characters including Hulk, Black Panther, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. The game's story centers on a tournament called the Challenge of the Champion, where teams of four compete for the chance to face the powerful Elder of the Universe known as the Champion.
PC and PS5 Open Beta Test Runs July 24-July 26, 2026
Players will not have to wait long to get their hands on the game, as Arc System Works confirmed that a global open beta will take place on PC and PlayStation 5 from **July 24 to July 26 (Pacific Time). Blade will be playable during the beta to give fans their first opportunity to use the vampire hunter before launch.
The studio said that more details about the beta, including its available content, will be shared closer to the event. A PlayStation Network account will be required to participate.

The developers also announced that Character Guide trailers will begin rolling out ahead of release. These videos will provide a closer look at every playable fighter, showcasing their normal attacks, special moves, ultimate abilities, assist types, and alternate color options to help players learn each character before launch.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to launch on August 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
