Marvel Rivals’ New Limited Time Avengers-Inspired PvP Mode Launches April 30
The Avengers Assemble in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is launching a new, limited-time PvP Mode "Path to Doomsday: The Avengers" on April 30. This is the first of a series of limited-time modes added to Marvel Rivals as part of the "Path to Doomsday" event, which will see subsequent modes inspired by the Avengers films added to the game until the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.
A recently released trailer on YouTube for "Path to Doomsday: The Avengers" recreates the iconic circle shot of the original six Avengers—Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye—from the film, before showing gameplay of the asymmetrical, PvP game mode.

Path to Doomsday (Avengers) sees a team lobby composed of the Avengers fighting a player that controls an empowered version of Loki on the Yggsgard: Royal Palace map. Loki’s new abilities in this game mode include a larger health pool, a mind control field that turns allies against each other, and an Ultimate Ability that summons his own team of cloned Avengers to fight for him.
Meanwhile, pre-existing heroes like Thor, Hawkeye, and Iron Man retain their original move-sets, with Black Widow being the only character whose gameplay was not shown. Some fans and creators on social media have speculated that this is hiding a potential rework of Black Widow’s moveset, something the community has long requested due to her perceived weak, low competitive viability in standard gameplay.
Marvel Rivals’ Push Towards Being a Comprehensive Marvel Experience

Marvel Rivals’ new Avengers game mode is the second new mode added to the game since the release of Season 7.5, with the new PvE "Blood Hunt" mode being added on April 24. Blood Hunt sees players fight through hordes of vampires within the game’s many New York City maps, with boss fights against Cap-Wolf, Ratatoskr, Dracula, and a secret fight against Kingpin strewn throughout the campaign.
With the rapid inclusion of new game modes, and a longer timeline of newer gameplay inclusions for Marvel Rivals being teased both for the Path to Doomsday event as well as for the game as a whole, the game seems to be continuing its push to become a "comprehensive, moving anime Marvel experience."

Rivals is also hosting special events for other areas of the game, with the ongoing 2026 Hellfire Gala community vote event allowing players to decide on which character will receive an exclusive, free skin next year. Alongside the new Avengers game mode, film-inspired skins for Iron Man and Loki will also be added to the game, and players can watch the 2012 Avengers film in its entirety in the game’s Times Square social map to earn free Units and other bonuses.
Marvel Rivals is out now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more on Marvel’s multiversal multiplayer hero shooter, read our article here:
