Marvel Rivals has begun teasing its upcoming 8th season with a short trailer for Devil Dinosaur, one of the new heroes rumored to come to the game.
Devil Dinosaur Is Coming to Marvel Rivals’ 8th Season
Rivals’ New Hero is a Prehistoric Protector
Marvel Rivals has released a short, eight-second teaser for Devil Dinosaur on their social media accounts, hinting that he would be one of the new characters added in the Marvel hero-shooter. The teaser was released ahead of the reveal showcase for Season 8, expected to be released later today, May 12, 2026.
The teaser also includes small hints at the lore for the season, as it was posted with a caption describing a Notice from The Collector. One of the Elders of the Universe, The Collector was first made a primary antagonist in Marvel Rivals’ overarching storyline in Season 5 when Rogue and Gambit steal a contract from his Museum. He was also the primary antagonist of Season 6, when Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone free the creatures he’s kept captive.
The notice warns the visitors of his Museum to keep an eye out for Devil Dinosaur, who has escaped from captivity and has been replaced by a small Devil Dino plushie in the trailer. The teaser ends with a bounty for Devil Dinosaur, hinting that The Collector could be resuming his role as a major antagonist for Season 8.
Devil Dinosaur’s speculated future addition to the game is hardly a surprise for fans, as it had been initially teased in Deadpool’s reveal trailer back in January, and has also been seen in the background of the Museum of Contemplation map. This isn’t the first time that Rivals has teased future characters long before their release, as characters like Blade and Black Cat have also been hinted at through appearances on maps, trailers, and Gallery Cards.
Devil Dinosaur is a relatively more obscure character within the Marvel pantheon, created by Jack Kirby in the late 1970s as an alternate universe "prehistoric protector" alongside his best friends Moon Boy and, later, Moon Girl. With the character’s towering stature, fans are expecting Devil Dinosaur to be a Vanguard, but this remains to be confirmed.
Marvel Rivals’ Crimson-Colored New Season
Given the short length of Devil Dinosaur’s teaser trailer, not much is known yet about the character’s abilities or in-game role. A glaring omission, at least in the eyes of Marvel fans, is the lack of outright confirmation that Moon Girl will be joining her best friend in Marvel Rivals.
Moon Girl, an Inhuman and the smartest person in the Marvel Universe, is most known for her deep friendship with Devil Dinosaur. Fans on social media are worried that she won’t be fighting alongside her best friend in Rivals, but the collar on Devil Dinosaur’s neck in his teaser trailer has also been seen as a potential hint of her inclusion in some way.
Devil Dinosaur was also previously hinted at in the Season 7 Gallery Cards, which are usually obtainable at the end of a season to tease upcoming heroes. One of the other heroes teased in the Gallery Card is X-Men leader Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops, with a pair of his signature ruby quartz glasses present in the scene.
Given the many hints and references to Scott in recent Rivals seasons, it is highly likely that he will be the second hero releasing for Season 8. Fans across social media have also been clamoring for Cyclops to be released as a Vanguard, but no official confirmation has been made yet. More details are expected for Season 8 of Marvel Rivals when the Developer Vision releases later today, on May 12.
