Light and Night SEA Wraps Up Closed Beta
Open Beta Hinted at Before Launch
Light and Night’s Southeast Asia (SEA) server has officially wrapped up its closed beta test, which ran from May 20 to 27 for Android and iOS users. Despite a rocky start marred by the server crashing under an unexpected influx of players, many deemed the week-long playtest a substantial experience, revealing both issues and potential.
On an X (formerly Twitter) post, the developers extended their gratitude to the participants and promised to "refine and optimize the game" based on the extensive feedback gathered. They also hinted at another playtest to take place before launch, stating that they "look forward to reuniting with you all at the official Open Beta!" As of now, no further details have been revealed, though the tease quickly caught players' attention and heightened anticipation.

Moreover, the community is speculating on a possible June 16 launch, as the game's App Store listing currently indicates the said date. The timing matches the otome title's June release patterns across China in 2021, Taiwan in 2023, and South Korea in 2024.
While its official accounts have yet to disclose a confirmed release date or window, the recent back-to-back development over the past few months has led players to believe the game will go live sooner rather than later.
English Localization Issues Lead CBT Feedback

The SEA server marks Light and Night's first English localization, featuring the love interests in their Chinese names: Xiao Yi (Osborn), Lu Chen (Evan), Qi Sili (Sariel), Zha Lisu (Charlie), and Xia Mingxing (Jesse). On that note, alongside common feedback such as bugs, most of the CBT participants highlighted shortcomings in Chinese-to-English translation and dubbing.
Players observed that the translations, though not the worst, were noticeable enough to distract them. According to them, the English sentences did not flow naturally and lost context in some instances. Another user noticed that a Chinese idiom failed to carry over its intended effect and meaning into the target language.
Likewise, participants also noted similar concerns with the dubbing, this time extending to performance and timing. They remarked that some voiced lines failed to match the scenes, and the acting lacked strong delivery. At one point, the English dub delivered the line, "cough cough cough," word for word, instead of actually acting out the coughing sound.

Amid the setbacks mentioned above and the game’s reportedly "grindy" nature, which made leveling up cards difficult, players still admitted being captivated by the five "charming" love interests despite having only spent time with them for a week. Thanking the developers for an enjoyable game and story, they bid farewell to their "husbands" and expressed hopes of seeing them again in the open beta and upcoming launch.
Light and Night SEA is currently being developed by Aurora Studios and published by VNG Games for iOS and Android devices.
