Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok Demo Opens June 17
Lets Players Try Beginner Content Ahead of July 9 Release
GRANBLUE FANTASY: Relink's upcoming expansion, Endless Ragnarok, now has a playable demo available on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. As announced by Cygames on June 17, the demo gives newcomers a taste of Relink's early story and character-based combat through Story Mode, Quest Mode, and Tutorial Mode, with completion rewards in each mode carrying over to the full game once Endless Ragnarok releases on July 9, 2026.
Quest Mode supports both solo and co-op play with crossplay matchmaking across all platforms, offering four quests total. Completing the first three unlocks "Sephira's Sanguine Glimmer," which introduces Summons, a newly added battle mechanic. Demo progress has automatic saves, though these can't be carried over into the full game, and completion rewards only become claimable once Endless Ragnarok officially launches.
Seofon Now Playable with Other Changes from Open Beta
Alongside the demo, changes have been made since the game's previous Open Beta test. Seofon, the Star Sword Sovereign, is now playable in the demo despite unlocking differently from other characters in the full release, giving players an early chance to try him out.
The Aquila Ruby Golem's HP and ATK in Sephira's Sanguine Glimmer have also been reduced. In this version, the main menu's character artwork has also been refreshed, and previous co-op matching issues have reportedly been resolved.
Conflux and Added Characters
Alongside the demo, Cygames also revealed details on Endless Ragnarok's new content for those who own the full game. Clearing "The Tale of Bahamut's Rage" in the base game unlocks Chaos-difficulty quests and the start of Endless Ragnarok's story, which in turn unlocks Summons as usable allies in Chaos-difficulty quests and beyond.
A new solo mode called the Conflux can also be unlocked through a side quest available during Chapter 6 of the main story, with further Cycles unlocking as players progress through Hard, Maniac, and eventually Endless Ragnarok's own story content, each Cycle granting different upgrade materials ranging from weapon forging materials to rare sigils.
Six new playable characters are joining the roster as well. Beatrix and Eustace are obtained by trading Crewmate Cards at the Knicknack Shack; Gallanza and Maglielle are unlocked through hard-difficulty quests during Chapter Ø; and Fraux and Fediel join the crew by progressing through Endless Ragnarok's story.
A separate major update for the base game is also planned alongside Endless Ragnarok's release, bringing quality-of-life improvements, game rebalancing, and new side quests, with full patch notes set to go live during a livestream scheduled for July 8.
Fans Look Forward to Expansion but Have Reservations
Reactions to the demo's release have been positive, though a number of players flagged performance concerns across different platforms. Several X (formerly Twitter) users reported inconsistent frame pacing on Steam, describing the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS modes as feeling oddly exaggerated compared to earlier betas, while others noted that the Switch 2 version felt noticeably less stable than its PS5 counterpart, both docked and in handheld mode.
Other players used the moment to ask practical questions, including whether demo rewards would be available to those who already own the base game and how account linking restrictions might affect reward claims.
Excitement for the full expansion remains high regardless, with many longtime fans expressing renewed enthusiasm ahead of the July 9 launch. Comments on the new trailer, "The Journey So Far," ranged from requests for additional playable characters and quality-of-life improvements to the endgame grind, to speculation that series antagonist Lucilius may make a playable appearance based on a brief shot in the footage.
