Ghost of Yotei Reveals More Details About Its Roguelike Mode
Jin Sakai Returns as One of the Playable Characters on October 1
Ghost of Yotei showcases a closer look at Most Wanted, a new single-player roguelike survival mode, in a gameplay reveal trailer for Sony’s State of Play on September 3, 2026. The new mode comes with the Complete Edition, alongside the new story expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, on October 1, 2026.
Developer Sucker Punch posted more details about the mode on PlayStation’s official blog. Most Wanted is an extension of Ghost of Yotei’s familiar combat systems and restructures them as a roguelike built around repeatable runs. Players choose from four playable characters, Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and Ghost of Tsushima protagonist Jin Sakai, before accepting a task from a bounty board featuring different members of the Yotei Six, escalating in difficulty before reaching Lord Saito.
Each character has unique weapons, abilities, ultimates, and kill streaks. For example, Ghost of Yotei’s protagonist Atsu comes with dual katanas, ghost tools, and the ultimate ability to summon two wolves in combat. Meanwhile, Jin Sakai retains all four of his original stances from the original game, the Dance of Wrath skill for his ultimate, which can cleave through multiple enemies, and activates Ghost Stance for his kill streak.
For buildcrafting, players can also choose perks in the middle of runs, with the ability to work on permanent progression customized before gameplay. Players can earn and spend Mon, which unlocks new techniques, upgrades, charms, and character unlocks, with cosmetics appearing in the main game.
Echoes of Sekigahara Delves into Atsu’s Past
Ghost of Yotei also revealed a narrative trailer for its new story expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, during State of Play. The video explores the new playable era Ezo, and her experiences fighting the Battle of Sekigahara alongside Nagato. The expansion also features a new weapon style to master, new armor types and cosmetics, and more.
