GANG OF DRAGON Reappears Online as Funding Questions Continue
Official Channel and Videos Vanished Before Reappearing
GANG OF DRAGON, an upcoming action-adventure title set in Kabukicho, briefly saw its official YouTube channel and related videos disappear on April 24 before later returning online the same day without any public explanation from Nagoshi Studio.
The sudden removal sparked speculation that GANG OF DRAGON may be facing deeper trouble and would eventually lead to the project’s cancellation, especially as questions about Nagoshi Studio’s funding have continued to hang over the project. Bloomberg previously reported in March that NetEase would stop financing Nagoshi Studio from May. According to Bloomberg, employees were informed of the decision, and a NetEase spokesperson confirmed the company would stop funding the studio as part of a broader pullback in game development.
The game’s reveal trailer, which first appeared during The Game Awards 2025, remained available on The Game Awards’ own YouTube channel during the disappearance. Nagoshi Studio’s official product page and Steam page also stayed online, making the channel’s sudden removal appear even more unusual.
Nagoshi Studio Still Lists GANG OF DRAGON as In Development
For now, Nagoshi Studio’s official site still lists GANG OF DRAGON on its front page, and a January message from studio head Toshihiro Nagoshi said the team remained fully committed to delivering the game. The Steam page also remains live and still lists the title as "Coming soon."
It remains to be seen whether or not the project is still safe, but recent official materials have not declared the game canceled. Official pages describe GANG OF DRAGON as an action-adventure game set in Kabukicho, the nightlife district of Shinjuku, Tokyo, where players follow Shin Ji-seong, portrayed by Ma Dong-seok, as he gets pulled into underworld conflict and intense personal drama.
