Overwatch Collaborates with Fortnite and YOASOBI
"Answer the Call" in Fortnite on May 14
Fortnite unveils an upcoming collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch, set to launch with Chapter 7 Season 2: Act III on May 14, 2026. Players expect the new skins to drop around the shop reset at 5:00 PM PDT / 8:00 PM EDT.
Following months of fan speculation that began in February, developer Epic Games hinted at the news with an X (formerly Twitter) post teasing tank hero D.Va’s silhouette on the official image. Titled "Answer the Call" as a reference to Overwatch’s rallying cry, Act III in Fortnite will most likely center on Overwatch-themed weapons and cosmetic sets, alongside the much-anticipated skins of heroes from the Blizzard title.
Aside from teasing D.Va as a Fortnite skin, official accounts have yet to reveal the full lineup of heroes and crossover items, nor have they addressed the possibility of additional gameplay features ahead of launch. Nonetheless, community buzz suggests Mercy, Genji, and Tracer may enter the fray. All four characters made their debut in Overwatch’s original 2016 release, with Tracer notably being the game’s first designed hero.
Given Fortnite's previous collaborations with franchises such as Resident Evil and Invincible, fans might see more Overwatch heroes drop in future updates. The first wave is usually reserved for an IP's household names, followed by other well-known characters in the next batch.
Fans are voicing their excitement over the collaboration on social media. Since their launches nearly a decade ago, Fortnite and Overwatch have established themselves as leading figures in their own subgenres—battle royale shooter and hero-shooter, respectively—and remain among the longest-running games today.
Both titles are also known for their crossover projects with other games and personalities, though this is their first time teaming up. Neither side has announced yet whether Fortnite content will drop in Overwatch as well.
YOASOBI Coming to Overwatch
Another collaboration drawing attention in the Overwatch community are the official X accounts of the game and J-pop duo YOASOBI hinting at a feature. Overwatch shared a screenshot of their conversation with the artist in English, teasing a future partnership rooted in their shared aspiration of "bringing people together." In turn, YOASOBI retweeted the post with a blue heart emoji.
Further information about the collaboration remain under wraps for now, with Blizzard urging players to "stay tuned for more soon." In addition to skins and cosmetics similar to Overwatch's collaboration with K-pop group Le Sserafim, fans are looking forward to the possibility of a live performance by YOASOBI at the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) 2026 Champions Clash in Tokyo, Japan, on May 22 to 24, 2026.
YOASOBI is one of Japan's most popular music acts. Formed in 2019 by songwriter-producer Ayase (renowned for his Vocaloid work) and vocalist Ikura, the duo quickly rose to prominence in the country's music scene and expanded their fan base abroad.
Massive hits include "Idol," featured in the anime Oshi no Ko, and their debut single "Yoru ni Kakeru," which topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks. Interestingly, they have also worked with Le Sserafim on "the NOISE."
Overwatch’s 10th Anniversary is Underway
In addition to the two major collaborations, Overwatch is currently commemorating its 10th anniversary with rewards and cosmetics granted to players from May 12 to June 1, 2026. The second Mythic rarity skin for Ana, a Tactician Support hero, also went live during the event.
