Fatal Fury’s "Emperor of Darkness" is Coming to City of the Wolves
Wolfgang Krauser, a major antagonist and former boss character in the Fatal Fury series, will be joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as a DLC character on April 24. He is the latest of the slated DLC characters for Season Pass 2, and he will be arriving alongside a planned major update for the fighting game’s first anniversary.
Krauser’s reveal trailer was released on April 17 and showcased the Emperor of Darkness’s moveset and unique arcade story mode. He maintains his playstyle as an oppressive, versatile all-rounder who specializes in command grabs and strong strikes in the King of Fighters games, with certain classic moves such as the Kaiser Wave, Kaiser Suplex, and the Blitz Ball specials being present in the trailer.
Alongside his arcade story mode, Krauser will also have his own single-player RPG adventure mode, where he interacts with South Town residents and tries to enact his evil plans. This will be Krauser’s first appearance in a canon Fatal Fury game since 1998’s Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, where he died after his defeat at the hands of Terry Bogard and it’s currently up in the air if City of the Wolves will retcon Krauser’s death or maintain it.
City of the Wolves’ First Anniversary Soon Approaches
April 24 also marks Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ first anniversary since its release, and SNK has been hinting at major updates for the game to celebrate the milestone. While no concrete plans have been announced yet, a "CotW 1st Anniversary Stream" is planned on April 23 at 4:30 PST.
This livestream will reveal the new updates coming to the game and will be hosted by CoTW director Hayato Konya, art director Tetsuya Yamamoto, and voice actors Takashi Kondo and Chika Anzai, who provide the voices for Terry Bogard and Preecha, respectively.
Meanwhile, City of the Wolves players can look forward to Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro’s addition to the game, arriving sometime in June. With Krauser’s release in April, only one fighter remains to be revealed for City of the Wolves’ Season 2 Pass DLC lineup, though no information has been revealed for this yet.
