Exodus Gameplay

Exodus is a third-person action-adventure sci-fi RPG akin to BioWare’s Mass Effect series. Players will shoot through enemies, meet companions, traverse through various terrain using tools, and make narrative decisions that will shape the fate of the game.
Firearms, Melee, and Combat

Players can seamlessly change between different weapons in battle. There are different firearms with specific use cases, such as targeting enemy weak points or dealing damage at mid-range. Ammo can be crafted at any point, given that the player has the materials.
Players can also incapacitate enemies with melee attacks and use various advanced Celestial tech to decimate entire hordes of enemies.
Cover System

During combat, various structures in the environment provide cover and protect against enemy attacks. If a player is using a cover, a shield icon will appear on their character.
Companions

Players can bring companions in battle and issue commands to use their abilities and ultimate attacks. These skills can come in handy as they give the player an advantage, like unleashing AoE attacks or inflicting status effects like burning.
Outside of combat, players’ interactions and relationships with characters will shape the tone and direction of the story.
Exploration

Exploration is a defining mechanic in Exodus, as Jun Aslan and his companions travel across diverse alien planets in search of answers. Alongside extraterrestrial threats and the effects of time dilation, the team must also navigate harsh and challenging terrain.
Fortunately, protagonist Jun possesses a unique ability that allows him to morph the environment around him. This power enables the creation of makeshift bridges and platforms, helping him and his companions cross gaps such as broken crevasses.

In a recently revealed gameplay trailer, the team is shown navigating an active volcano, with Jun actively forming platforms to assist his companions’ traversal.
However, Exodus is not limited to a single world. Future areas are expected to introduce even more complex environments and traversal puzzles, encouraging players to rely on curiosity and exploration to discover the correct path forward.
Exodus Story

Exodus is a narrative-focused sci-fi role-playing game, where player choice will influence the flow of the story via various plotlines and different character outcomes.
Time Dilation is central to the conflict of the game, where a player can return to their homeworld and find a society that has already advanced in years or even decades. This can lead to character moments from friends and family who had moved on with their lives without the protagonist.
An in-universe novel named Exodus: The Archimedes Engine was released on September 17, 2024, offering a glimpse into the expanded universe of the game. It was authored by British sci-fi novelist Peter F. Hamilton, who wrote the Commonwealth Saga, Void Trilogy, and the Chronicle of the Fallers.
Exodus Plot

Exodus mainly follows Jun Aslan, born to the legendary explorer Orion Aslan and a Celestial woman named Ava. They start as a salvager, with a special gift that was kept hidden their entire life.
As the world around Jun decays because of an all-devouring, technology-eroding catastrophic phenomenon known as the Rot, he joins the ranks of the Travelers. These are an elite group of individuals hunting for advanced alien tech known as Remnants.
The Travelers must steal the Remnants from the Celestials, a race of genetically modified beings that have long transcended the limits of humanity. As the only human who can wield Celestial technology, Jun Aslan will be a key player in the fight against Celestials and the long struggle for humanity’s survival.
Exodus Setting

Exodus is set 40,000 years in the future. Humanity sought refuge in space after the collapse of Earth in 2200 CE, building societies across the cosmos. The game is set in the region of the Omega Centauri Cluster, where humanity is embroiled in a battle for survival with its brethren, the "Celestials", genetically modified human descendants.
Exodus Characters
Jun Aslan

Jun Aslan is the protagonist of Exodus. Once a scavenger, it is revealed that they can use Celestial technology via their mother’s heritage, making them pivotal in humanity’s fight against the Celestials.
Elise Charroux

Elise Charroux is a sleeper from 23rd-century Earth, as well as being a veteran mercenary and a weapons specialist. She is blunt and sarcastic, but a reliable ally of Jun’s.
Tom Vargas

Tom Vargas suffered from numerous experiments by an "enemy military". He would spend ten years traveling across the Centauri Cluster as part of a crew before they met their demise. He would eventually transition into a career as a Traveler after bonding with its members in Persepolis.
