Blizzard announced a Diablo IV and The Witcher 3 collaboration in a post from their official Diablo X (Twitter) account. The Witcher 3’s timely upcoming DLC and remastered version come in tow with the dark fantasy-themed crossover. At this time, both Blizzard and CD Projekt Red have issued statements confirming their partnership.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered arrives on Battle.net on September 29, with its two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine. Alongside this, CD Projekt Red is gearing towards its new expansion, Songs of the Past, which follows Geralt into the land of Letten as he investigates a long-dormant evil. In light of the collaboration, anyone who purchases the Songs of the Past DLC will receive a Geralt of Rivia-themed skin in Diablo IV.
CD Projekt Red stated this is just the "beginning of our partnership with Blizzard." Their global PR director, Radek Grabowski, described the two studios sharing an ambition to keep raising the bar for the industry, and Blizzard promised more details regarding such will be available at BlizzCon this September 2026.
Fans Feel Hyped, But Skeptical Of More Skins
Reactions and comments across Reddit and X (Twitter) have been a mix of excitement and monetization fatigue. Many fans saw the crossover as a dream pairing between two of RPGs' largest franchises, with some saying it's one of the nicest collabs either series has done. Still, some community members pointed out that they’re using Battle.net to pull more players to Blizard’s own platform as a result.
However, others held a cynical view, expecting Blizzard to eventually charge premium prices for future Witcher-themed cosmetics, even though CD Projekt Red is giving away a remaster and two expansions for free with the Battle.net version. Some also pushed back on the sheer number of crossovers Diablo IV has run lately, such as previous collaborations with Overwatch, DOOM, and Berserk, arguing the game would be better served by content updates instead of another cosmetic collab.
Even so, the timing has added extra hype to the announcement for fans of both series. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered launching next month and the Songs of the Past DLC to look forward to, the Diablo IV skin gives players an added incentive to jump back into The Witcher 3 right as it's getting its biggest overhaul since launch, and it's likely only the first of several crossover reveals still to come once BlizzCon rolls around.
