3D Anime Arena Fighter
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is a 3D anime fighting game that builds upon the mechanics of its predecessor. Players can choose from over 40 characters from the Demon Slayer universe. Battles are fought in 3D arenas, where players control a main fighter and can swap with a support character to perform assists and extend combos. Since both characters share a single health bar, strategic switching is crucial to maintaining momentum.
The game’s combat revolves around light and heavy attacks, with dashes and parries allowing for aggressive or defensive play. Players can guard against enemy attacks or sidestep to evade damage, making positioning an important aspect of battle.
Each character has three unique special moves tied to their breathing techniques or Blood Demon Arts, which consume a regenerating special meter. Landing enough hits fills the Ultimate Gauge, allowing players to unleash powerful cinematic Ultimate Art attacks.
Additionally, combatants can activate Boost Mode to temporarily enhance their attack power and speed, while Surge Mode provides an even stronger boost, enabling nearly limitless combo potential.
Story Mode
Story Mode continues from the first game, allowing players to control Tanjiro and his allies as they experience key events from the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. This mode also introduces mini-games, such as a shamisen rhythm game, and explorable locations, including the Entertainment District.
VS Mode
VS Mode offers a roster of over 40 playable characters, including the nine Hashira, alongside fighters from the original game, free post-launch updates, and the Entertainment District DLC packs. New gameplay elements such as Dual Ultimates and Gear have also been added. Players can take on challenges in both online and offline battles.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 continues the story of Tanjiro and his allies as they train under the Hashira to become stronger and battle demons in Japan’s Taishō period. Tanjiro’s journey to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, the leader of the demons, and avenge his family remains a central focus.
The game adapts key arcs from both the anime and manga, covering the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc.

The story mode primarily unfolds across three major locations: the neon-lit, labyrinthine streets of the Entertainment District, the secluded and mist-shrouded Swordsmith Village, and the rigorous training grounds of the Hashira Training Arc. While the core experience focuses on the escalating battles against the Upper Rank demons, the setting has recently expanded via the Infinity Castle DLC (released in early 2026), which introduces the surreal, gravity-defying architecture of Muzan Kibutsuji’s trans-dimensional lair.
Throughout these environments, players can explore expanded semi-open areas that feature more verticality and interactivity than the first title, allowing for a more immersive look at the Taisho-era aesthetic that defines the franchise.

Tanjiro Kamado
In the sequel, Tanjiro has moved past his reliance on Water Breathing, with his moveset now fully centered on the Hinokami Kagura. This version of Tanjiro is a high-pressure offensive fighter, utilizing searing flame-based strikes that can break through an opponent's guard more effectively than in the previous game.
His gameplay loop focuses on managing "stamina burn," as his Sun Breathing techniques deal massive damage but require precise timing to avoid leaving him vulnerable to counters.
Nezuko Kamado
Reflecting her transformation during the battle against Daki, Nezuko’s "Awakened" or Advanced Demon Form shifts her from a support-style fighter to a frontline bruiser. She gains significant reach with her kicks and claw swipes, and her unique Blood Demon Art: Exploding Blood now functions as a persistent area-of-effect hazard.
Her most notable mechanic is her enhanced regeneration, which allows her to recover grey health
faster than any other character, making her incredibly difficult to knock out in a war of attrition.
