Attack on Titan Returns with Fan-Favorite 2v8 Game Mode
Dead by Daylight (DbD) just dropped its Bloodbound trailer, which revealed three iconic franchise collaborations coming to The Fog on April 28: Attack on Titan (AoT), Darkest Dungeon, and Alien. As teased on April 21, the popular survival horror title will feature unique cosmetics introducing legendary characters from these IPs.
Developer Behaviour Interactive and 505 Games have previously collaborated with AoT in 2022; it was the game’s first-ever crossover with an anime series. The collection introduced a variety of themed skins for both Survivors and Killers, including the Armored Titan for The Oni, the War Hammer Titan for The Spirit, Eren’s Uniform for Dwight Fairfield, and Mikasa’s Uniform for Yui Kimura, among many others.
These legacy cosmetics will return in the coming event alongside brand-new skins teased in the trailer. According to the reveal, the new additions include the Attack Titan, "Cleaning" Levi Ackerman, Mikasa’s Dark Uniform, and Sasha Braus’ Uniform.
Aside from costumes, the AoT collab will also bring back the fan-favorite 2v8 game mode. The limited-time event will pit two Killers against eight Survivors on expanded maps, introducing new strategies and objectives that are adjusted for the larger player count.
The community is eager to jump into this latest iteration of the 2v8 mode, as it offers players a rare opportunity to witness out-of-this-world Killer tag teams. With the expanded roster, the Fog will see unprecedented pairings like the Xenomorph hunting alongside the Attack Titan, which allows for a more social, high-action experience for all.
Darkest Dungeon Ruin Rift Event
Aside from the action-packed AoT crossover, DbD is also partnering with the grim world of Darkest Dungeon to bring the Ruin Rift event to life. This collaboration follows Behaviour Interactive’s acquisition of Red Hook Studios, Darkest Dungeon’s developer, in 2024.
The Ruin Rift event features a plethora of Darkest Dungeon-themed skins, which include Collector's Curse for The Nurse, Hellion’s Courage for Meg Thomas, Highwayman’s Tale for David King, Leper’s Quest for Vittorio Toscano, Prophet’s Sight for The Blight, and Plague Doctor’s Purpose for Zarina Kassir.
In an interview with MobileSyrup on April 21, DbD Senior Creative Director Dave Richard and Red Hook co-founder and Creative Director Chris Bourassa shared insights into how the team-up came to fruition.
Richard noted that the collaboration felt natural given that both studios now reside under the same umbrella and share a mutual admiration for each other’s work. "It was so easy. It was just there. We just started collaborating together. Both studios are part of the same family, so it was like, ‘Yeah, we absolutely need to do something at some point.’ On the Montreal, DbD side, we’re fans and we’re passionate about Darkest Dungeon, so we absolutely wanted to do this," he stated.
Interestingly, Behaviour and Red Hook are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their respective games this year. Both Richard and Bourassa took the opportunity to thank their communities for their continued support.
"It’s a tough market in video games at the best of times, and certainly even more so in the past several years. So I think it’s just incredible when you have a community that enjoys what you make and that you get to make it," Bourassa remarked.
New Alien Collection
Closing off the Bloodbound trailer is a sneak peek at the new additions for DbD’s Alien collection. This includes the Colonial Marines’ gear for Gabriel Soma and the William Hudson skin for Ellen Ripley.
While details have been scarce for this collab, fans are expecting new updates for DbD’s Alien Chapter, and possibly new outfits for The Xenomorph.
The massive scope of the Bloodbound update has fans in awe, which features three major franchises that further expand the DbD universe. With the April 28 release serving as a final prelude, the community is now looking forward to the game’s official 10th Anniversary on June 14, 2026.
