Final Story Update Arrives With Episode 15 Hard Mode
Free Awakened Unit Anapilis Joins the Roster
CounterSide’s final update added Hard Mode for Main Stream Episode 15, The Golden Tree and Its Tender, alongside a new event shop tied to the chapter, following a developer note confirming the end of new content updates after the April 29, 2026, patch. The patch effectively represents the game’s last major content drop.
CounterSide is a free-to-play side-scrolling RPG developed by Studiobside, combining real-time strategy combat with gacha-based unit collection. The game is now entering a wind-down phase, with this update marking its final content additions before transitioning to maintenance mode.
A new Awakened SSR Counter sniper, Will of the World: Anapilis, was also introduced. She can be obtained for free through contract missions, event rewards, achievements, Danger Close, and Last Stand, with her missions running from April 28 to May 26, 2026. Anapilis can be upgraded up to Tactical Update Level 6, with additional title and trophy missions tied to her progression.
The update also introduced four pieces of exclusive gear for Anapilis, which can be farmed through Episode 15 stages and purchased from the event shop.
Events, Modes, and Recruitment Updates Round Out the Patch as CounterSide Winds Down
Several modes and seasonal content also returned with the patch. This included Danger Close Venera Season: Thagirion, Last Stand Season 22, and the returning Academy Student Council Special Course Challenge Mode, which now features a buff that enhances Academy Student Council units and rewards materials used to craft gear from the Academy Student Council equipment set.
A Vice President’s Special Bonus login event is also running from April 28 to May 12, offering credits, enhancement materials, and Quartz.
On the recruitment side, the update rolled out Custom Pickup banners for Awakened, SSR, and Operator units. These allow players to select a target unit with a guaranteed pull at 150 recruits, alongside several returning Chance UP banners.
Additional updates include a new jukebox track, ANAPILIS, the addition of Treasure Hunt of the Debtcade! to the Seasonal Record, the removal of the 30-day coin supply contract with refunds issued in Admin Coins, and the removal of the weekly S-Fusion Core crafting limit.
Altogether, the update gives players one last batch of story content, a free Awakened unit, and sweeping system changes, offering a generous sendoff as CounterSide transitions into maintenance mode.
