Borderlands 4 Version 1.7 Update Brings New Boss Fight
Fight The Timekeeper’s Lackeys on May 28

Borderlands 4 developer Gearbox has announced a new dual-boss raid arriving with the Version 1.7 update on May 28. Vault Hunters will face Subjugator and Thol the Invincible, who are lackeys of the game’s main antagonist, The Timekeeper.
Raid 2 against the formidable duo will only be available to players who have completed the main story. The previous raid against murderous plant-based god Bloomreaper the Invincible, released in December 2025, was similarly exclusive to endgame players.
Gearbox has not revealed any information on the new encounter aside from a glimpse at the new bosses’ gold-armored design in a 30-second trailer released on April 29. However, they've extended an invitation to a Gearbox DevCast sometime in May, where the developers are expected to do a deep dive into the new boss fight.

If Raid 2 follows the first raid’s format, endgame players will be able to access the new raid boss by picking up the related side quest from specific Bounty Boards marked on the map. Invincible bosses scale to the player’s level, and there are no level requirements to engage them, but it is recommended for players to be at least Level 50 before attempting their battle.
Despite the name, invincible bosses are not actually invincible, but they do have multiple phases, larger health pools, and deal more punishing damage than other enemies. In turn, they reward with better loot. Defeating The Timekeeper’s minions promises to be a difficult challenge that will push players’ builds to the limit, but overcoming the new raid offers Legendary-tier items and a Pearlescent-tier weapon as rewards.
Finishing Raid 2 will also unlock Level 7 of the endgame’s Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM). The new UVHM difficulty, courtesy of Version 1.7, will make leveling up and gathering better loot harder but more rewarding for players.
Version 1.6 Arrives First on April 30 With Minor Updates

Before Raid 2 in May, Version 1.6 is set to drop on April 30. The minor update will fix bugs, make gameplay improvements, and slightly tweak new Vault Hunter C4SH to ensure his power level is balanced with other playable characters. C4SH joined the roster just last March with the game’s first story DLC featuring Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.
Aside from planned version updates, Gearbox will continue to roll out smaller weekly performance updates addressing power balance among Vault Hunters and gear, as well as reported issues. There have been no updates on the game's intended Switch 2 release, which was put on hold indefinitely by publisher Take-Two last February.
