Bloodborne's Return to Yharnam Event is Back for Its 11th Anniversary

Bloodborne’s annual community-driven event, Return to Yharnam, has fans doing new runs and leaving messages in-game in celebration of the action RPG’s 11th anniversary.

Running Red Until April 7

Bloodborne fans celebrate the beloved PlayStation 4 classic’s 11th anniversary with the annual community-driven event, Return to Yharnam. From March 24 to April 7, both veterans and beginners get together to start a new playthrough of the game, with a list of challenges to encourage interaction with other players.

Primarily hosted on the subreddit r/bloodborne and its Discord server, the event strives to make multiplayer active and reinvigorate the community to talk about the game and help newcomers with its challenging boss fights, weapons, and more. After starting their new run, players are tasked with using the online function to summon other players’ characters as either co-operators (allies) or adversaries (enemies) "as much as possible", and set their matchmaking region to ‘Worldwide'.

Moreover, participants are instructed to leave a note at their home base next to the bath messengers that says, "You’re in the know, right?" and upvote any messages of these kinds they find. The last but "most [important]" rule is to "have fun".

Along with the baseline rules, the Discord server is also hosting a Funny Clips Contest for Return to Yharnam. Players will submit clips from any point in the game that they deem funny, with a recommended length of 30 seconds and ten submissions per person. Participants who get the most upvotes from other users will receive 1x Discord Nitro.

Bloodborne Remaster and Bluepoint’s Closure

Just a month before fans got together for Return to Yharnam, reports in February surfaced that the developer of the PlayStation 5 remake of FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls, Bluepoint Games, pitched a Bloodborne remake to Sony last year. Fans have been clamoring for a revival of the game for years, scrounging for signs of a remake, remaster, port, or update.

According to a report by Jason Schreier, Sony told Bluepoint "that the numbers made sense, but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen". FromSoftware currently doesn’t have any announced Bloodborne projects, with its sights set on the upcoming Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods for the Nintendo Switch 2.

With Bluepoint Games’ closure last February and FromSoftware preoccupied with other IPs, Bloodborne currently sits in stasis as fans take it upon themselves to keep interest up for the action RPG classic, with Return to Yharnam being one of the biggest community-led efforts to do so.

Bloodborne was released on March 24, 2025, for the PlayStation 4. To stay up to date on any information about the game, check out our article below.
