An animated film adaptation of Bloodborne is currently in the works, with famous video game content creator Jackscepticeye at the helm as a producer. The announcement has drummed up excitement among Bloodborne fans, reviving talks about a potential remake.
Bloodborne R-Rated Movie Adaptation Now in Production
Famous Youtuber Jackscepticeye Co-Producing
Bloodborne is getting an R-rated animated film adaptation under major production studio and film distributor Sony Pictures. The announcement was made during the studio’s segment at CinemaCon 2026. One of the key individuals in attendance was Sanford Panitch, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
Panitch stated that Bloodborne would be an animated film adaptation in order to stay "very true" to the grimdark nature of the game. Combined with the R-rating attached to the title, fans can expect them to lean fully into the game’s bloody visuals and heavy themes.
The upcoming film will be co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and—notably, award-winning YouTuber Seán McLoughlin or "Jackscepticeye." Soon after the announcement of the Bloodborne adaptation, he released a statement on the game’s official subreddit to express his eagerness to create the "best Bloodborne adaptation possible." He declared that Bloodborne is his favorite game of all time, and as one of its many fans, he knows how "truly passionate" the Bloodborne community is.
A Possible Sequel or Remake on the Horizon?
The news came as a surprise to a lot of fans of the beloved soulslike, especially because it raises another question about publisher Sony’s plans for the game. Amid the sea of excitement and bewilderment at the surprise announcement, fans under Jackscepticeye’s post have once again brought up the possibility of a remake or a remaster.
Their expectations aren’t far-fetched; now that a movie has been confirmed, the ensuing buzz is bound to draw the attention of both old and new fans back to the game. As of March 24, Bloodborne is now 11 years old and remains a PlayStation 4 exclusive, even with the PlayStation 5 already in the middle of its lifecycle. This means it is yet to be ported to other platforms such as the PC, Xbox, or the Nintendo Switch. Fans have been waiting for a remake, remaster, or even a sequel for several years now, and they believe this is the perfect moment for Sony to honor the game’s comeback with one.
