Astrae Oratio has just received a new promotional video. It gives interested players their first look at the game's combat and daily life elements.

Offers Glimpse of Combat and Daily Life
South Korean publisher NC and developer Dynamis One have dropped a new character promotional video on the 23rd of June for their upcoming game, Astrae Oratio, and it offers the clearest look yet at the game’s cast and day-to-day life gameplay. Titled "The City, the Stars, and Magic," the trailer moves past the vague concept art of previous press releases and focuses on the personalities who drive the story.
Although previous promotional materials only hinted at the game’s mechanics, the new footage showcases actual battle sequences featuring the playable characters in action. Combat appears to be turn-based, with party members taking turns to unleash attacks and special skills against supernatural enemies. NC and Dynamis One have yet to provide a breakdown of the combat system, but classic tropes of turn-based gacha games appear to be present, including ultimate abilities and shields or "Break" mechanics.
There also seems to be an emphasis on daily life. Much of the promotional art shown on the PV focuses on the girls spending time together, while a few brief shots capture the protagonist changing into swimsuits for a nighttime swim.
Astrae Oratio is a pivot from what publisher NCSoft previously released. Traditionally known for gritty online games such as Lineage and Aion, the company appears to be using this new project to enter the growing market for anime-style RPGs. To achieve that, NCSoft has partnered with Dynamis One, a studio founded by veteran developers who previously worked on titles such as Blue Archive. Earlier this year, NCSoft invested in the studio and secured the game's global publishing rights, ensuring that Astrae Oratio will reach audiences both in South Korea and around the world.
The game takes place in an alternate version of Tokyo in 1989. Here, players fill the shoes of the "Shunin"—an adult supervisor—tasked with managing a secret group of middle schoolers who double as the city’s magical problem solvers.
Astrae Oratio Characters
At the heart of the game’s story are the girls from the Minato Middle School’s magical activities group. Leading the charge is Tanaka Erin, a character built entirely on a walking contradiction. Despite inheriting the Western facial features of her Irish mother, Erin is a thoroughly average Japanese teenager, right down to her total inability to speak a word of English. Her normal existence gets thrown out the window, however, when she accidentally discovers she can channel an ancient form of magic that the world thought was long extinct.
Erin is joined in her double life by two people. The first is Anna M. Batternberg, a young noble from Vienna who fled to Tokyo mostly to escape her family’s aggressive matchmaking attempts. She lives above a local flower shop run by her family’s retired butler—an older man who has already decided that the player’s character would make a fantastic future husband for her. Finishing the trio is Fujiwara Riria, a transfer student from an elite family of sorcerers capable of wielding the lost arts of the ancient Yamatai Kingdom.
This trio will not have the schoolyard to themselves, however, as the trailer also introduces Mistukoe Luna, the sole heir to a family that became wealthy overnight during a massive real estate boom. She seems to be the foil to Erin’s rather carefree attitude.
But there’s also Akina, the director of the Akina Urban Legend Research Institute. She suses a school film club called "Slash and Flesh" as a front to hunt down supernatural rumors spreading across Tokyo and expose the truth behind them.
The trailer concludes with the appearance of an unidentified character standing before burning wreckage. She is wearing traditional clothes and headphones and states that she is present for "official business." There appears to be a larger conflict surrounding the game’s world, and her appearance may hint at another major faction operating behind the scenes.
The PV ends with the words, "Key in the Ignition for 2026." Although NC has not officially announced a release date, the wording may suggest that the company is still targeting a launch sometime this year.
